Good content, rough read.

The writing is solid and a good, impartial, summary of complex presidents, in complex times.

The performance sounded like the narrator didn’t take the time to read the manuscript through first before recording. Lots of mispronunciation of relatively common words, and awkward delivery.

History comes alive

A fair representation of political life in the USA WHEN STRIFE BETWEEN POLITICAL GROUPS RIVALS WHAT WE FACE TODAY.

narrator does a very poor job. Not a lot of detail

Other biographies I purchased provided a great deal more detail about the lives and political activities of the Presidents in the book. The narrator must be someone's unemployed nephew. I haven't heard anyone butcher the reading of a book like this since I bought my first Kindle and listened to the computer try to navigate multi-syllable words.

Well written and good reading.

Nicely written and good read. There are occasions when the author gets a little too flowery with what I would consider insignificant detail, but I enjoyed the book and learned a lot. It is indeed a great, captivating Guide to Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren.

necessary to listen to learn about two presidents.

Two topics about which I would like more detail about Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren efforts to build a political party and his presidency. The author says in the beginning of the book that there is not a lot of detail preserved about Van Buren and later specifies that even in Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren’s autobiography he didn't say much about party building. I have better knowledge of Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren’s life, which covers the extent of my interest in the president. If one is interested in greater detail about Van Buren's political career it will be necessary to look elsewhere.

Really a good overview.

The writing in this book flows very well in the wisdom that it was easy reading. The author does not delve into a lot of detail about Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren but gives enough to give one a glimpse of both's life.

Perfect to read biographies...

This is my loving book as I am a history lovers. A readable biography on a largely forgotten presidents. I enjoyed it as part of my project to read biographies of all American presidents. I could not find a biography of Van Buren in my local library system.

One of the best of the series.

I've read many books from Captivating History authors, and this may well be the best yet. The team writes with a sense of humor, and includes historical context that makes Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren’s decisions much more understandable. There were also several points where I found myself drawing parallels with today's political landscape.
