Explore the Captivating History and Mythology of the Aztec!
Nothing remains of the ancient Mesoamerican civilization who called themselves the Mexica, better known to us as the Aztecs. Nothing except for their remarkable story. In this audiobook, we discuss their enigmatic origins and how the Aztecs rose from nomadic tribes to the dominant power in Mesoamerica at an astounding speed. You’ll wander the streets of their great capital city of Tenochtitlán, known as “the Venice of the New World” among the Spanish Conquistadors, who spread the term all over Europe. You’ll discover the full extent of the city’s splendour, visiting its many market stalls, smelling fresh chocolate and vanilla pods. You’ll indulge in a taste of ripe, hand-picked avocados and freshly baked corn tortillas, as you decipher Náhuatl, the language spoken by the 50,000 merchants who visited Tenochtitlán every day.

This civilization is single-handedly responsible for some of the most major innovations in nearly every field relevant to maintaining a civilized society - this includes religion, lawmaking, architecture, schooling, art, literature, and even entertainment. Naturally, most of what we see as negative aspects of society were established in ancient Sumer as well. There wasn’t an aspect of Sumerian life that wasn’t plagued with corruption or devastation of one form or another.

Bad bad bad
Although the only thing I could give credit was for the way the author tried to make it entertaining even if it is based on a bunch of lies
These stories are solely based of a white man’s perspective and with no official input from the original people of the land.
Sadly most histories of the ‘New World’ were distorted showing ancient civilizations as savages, compared to the Spanish Conquistadors. There are better materials and documentaries out there than this book!
To make it even worse, the narrator’s pronunciations of many words made me cringe deeply.. I’m sure the narrator speaks only one language in his life and unashamedly butchers all of the beautiful words of the ancient languages. Shame on u! I can understand that a true Mayan would not even dare to read this book because it is full of lies!!!!

Very bad narration
I felt that the narrator did a very poor job of interpreting the material. The performance was rushed and many of the names/places were mispronounced. The editing was also not very good. I heard phrases repeated and sections of dialogue that could have been cleaned up to help the performance. If someone actually listened to this book and reviews before it was release maybe it could’ve been better. The book was somewhat informative but I wasn’t sure what it was trying to be. It felt like a history lesson, turned into a guide book that ended up being a school book report. A book report about the Spanish conquistadors and not the cultures I was hoping to learn about.

Interesting and informative
Interesting and thoughtfully presented, however the reading (of one book in particular) came across as aimed at school students. Additionally, some pronunciation was questionable. Not only of Spanish words but also a number of English words which were pronounced incorrectly repeatedly throughout the book, which became distracting. There were also a number of outright contradictions between one sentence and the next.
