Publisher's Summary

From her years as the presidential press secretary to her debates with colleagues on Fox News' The Five, Dana Perino reveals the lessons she's learned that have guided her through life, kept her level-headed, and led to her success, even in the face of adversity.

Thoughtful, inspiring, and often surprising, And the Good News Is...traces Dana Perino's unlikely journey through politics and television. It's a remarkable American story-made up of equal parts determination and clear-eyed optimism. From facing professional challenges and confronting personal fears to stepping up to a podium for a President, Dana has come to expect the unexpected and has an uncanny ability to find the good news in any tough situation. And the Good News Is...takes us from her Western childhood in Wyoming and Colorado to a chance meeting on an airplane that changes her life entirely. Then, with refreshing honesty and humor, she recounts her frustration with a string of unsatisfying jobs and living circumstances until a key career tip leads her back to Washington, DC to work for the Bush Administration.

Dana also shares here her best work and life lessons-tips that will help you to get your point across convincingly while allowing your own grace and personality to shine through. As someone who still believes in working together to solve the problems our nation faces, Dana offers clear, practical advice on how to restore civility to our personal and public conversations. Dana fan!

Lovely listen. Made me shed tears of pride for the her service stories and tears of joy and sadness for personal triumphs and losses. Dana Perino is truly a roll model for all American women, young and old. I'm a fan of her presence on "The Five" and glad to have had the opportunity to hear what has made her the classy lady she is on the show. The only criticism, is that I would have liked hear it in her own voice. Narration was good, but books read by the author are always preferred.

Thank you, Dana. You took the time to pass wisdom and experience on to other women who are seeking to live out their small roles in this big world. I have been encouraged.

Great Book for a Daughter

Would you consider the audio edition of And the Good News Is… to be better than the print version?

I am on the road for several hours each day...hence the audio books. This is one book I wish to have in print as well.

Any additional comments?

Besides being entertaining, this story has a very positively approach to life and to the obstacles that one might face in their journey through life. I plan to give it to my daughter this Christmas because of what she can learn from Ms. Perino's experiences.

one third about Bush, two thirds about Perino

I enjoyed learning about Dana Perino's career arc, especially some nice stories (with good detail) about her years at the White House. Quick listen and great narration.

Full of great advise!

Definitely a must read for anyone interested in improving their position in life. Many of the passages, especially the ones about GWB made my eyes leak a little. Gotta love her honesty and devotion.

Excellent book.

Fantastic book. I appreciate the candor and the advise. I am purchasing a copy of the book for my extremely bright niece who is just graduating from high school and beginning her life as an adult in college. I believe the insights provided in this book will help guide her path. Thank you Dana for putting your perspective and wisdom into a book for others. And thank you for your service to the country.

Interesting look into Bush White House and beyond

This book was aptly titled and it was refreshing to hear tales from the political world free of rancor and vitriol. The narration was done especially well and I had no problem imagining Perino saying the words herself. This is a spoiler (can this kind of book have a spoiler?) but the most interesting reveal was Perino confessing that when confronted by especially nasty media questions at White House press briefings, she would secretly shoot a bird at the antagonist while hiding her hand beneath the lectern. An enjoyable seven-hour listen.

One of the best books I’ve read.

I can’t remember a time when I read a book I enjoyed more. I laughed, cried and learned so much. It was such an eye opening experience to hear so much about life in the Whitehouse and I truly enjoyed seeing several sides of things I only read about in the newspapers.

I loved the lessons and advice and think all young adults should read this book, it’s just so timeless and so helpful.

Loved! Loved! And loved!
