A constructive and empowering guide for managing emotions

Honestly I didn’t think I had anger issues—I bought this book for strategies to help my clients as a performance coach. When I dove into Ari’s work, however, I was surprised to find how relatable and empowering it was even for occasional bursts of frustration and anger. With structured techniques like CBT, this is the ideal guide for tapping into underlying pain and starting to heal with patience and self-compassion.

Wow- this was hands down amazing!

I thought I knew everything there was to know about anger management but boy was I surprised. This book truly broke down the causes, different related diagnoses, and truly effective tools and strategies for handling the emotion. Furthermore, there were actual exercises and journal prompts that I could use to truly apply the information I learned. I would highly highly highly recommend this book to anyone who has anger management issues or to anyone who has a loved one with anger management issues. Five star all the way!

Good starting point.

This book talks about a lot a areas on where anger comes from and how we as individuals should work on managing it. The triggers chapter is a key one in this book and found it very helpful. And the remainder of the book does prove to be useful too.

It leads you to the source of the problem.

It is well divided, explaining the principles addressing the source and also the main thing, which is dealing with the source. Good for the person and the therapist as well!

Surprisingly powerful

I don't feel like I have "anger issues"(everyone probably says that) but in general I am someone who keeps my cool and composure but that is a learned trait. I always feel like we as humans should continue to learn and improve as human beings and though I don't lash out at others sometimes my nerves or frustraion can get to me. I really found the whole book useful but specifically liked the exercises at the end of every chapter and the cool down kit idea the author provided.

Emotionally Enlightened!!!

My husband experiences severe irritation and struggles with anger issues. I was hoping I could get some education around why he is the way he is most of the time. I am pleasantly surprised how informative this book is! I feel like I can better help him and truly hope he listens to this book as he said he will. I feel a lot more hopeful now.

Impeccable!!!

This is needed in everyone's home....

Anger is a real thing. It's a mechanism of protection by the emotions when something deeper is going on. Vulnerability, sadness, hurting on the inside, etc. I love this book because it's really the most relevant of our time, and crosses into any situation, or human lifestyle u can think of. No matter who you are, where you are, or how healthy your mental state is, anger affects you in some way, shape, or form. Relationships with those closest to us are the most threatened by uncontrolled anger, as we tend to be even the worst of ourselves around those that know us more, or even love us more. This book is great for anyone no matter how bad or light your anger is. It gives you an avenue to understand, address, and control your anger!!! I recommend it to everyone, having a book like this on hand can really change your life for the better.

5+ starts AMAZING!

This audiobook is fantastic and it is very well structured from start to end. I think every adult has faced anger at some point in their life and some has faced it more severely in their day to day life but wherever you are there is ton of great advice and strategies given. My favorite topics where "understanding your anger" and "create a cool down kit". Great job to the author.

Helpful and practical

As I have gotten older I seem to be getting grumpier. Now in my 40s I have anger for seemingly no reason, this book helped me not only figure out why I feel this way but also helped me to understand the triggers and to step in before I react to something. I appreciate the cool down kit discussed and I look forward to implementing what I learned. I will definitely be re-listening to this again to make sure I get it all!

Very Interesting!

These strategies are simple and proven. Anyone who struggles with anger can find help in this book! I think for me the hardest part is forgiving myself, but now I see how it is all connected. Good Narrator also.

brilliant, changed my life

I listened to this audiobook because my anger was having an effect on my relationships and I needed a solution. I am so grateful for this audiobook, I have learned that Anger does not have the power to control me. I have come to the bottom of why I get angry and where it comes from and thanks to this book I feel I have more control over it and over my life in general. This book taught me techniques I can use in my every day life to control my anger, I am more aware of my triggers now and can control them before I explode. I have learned from this book that there is always a way out, so every time I get overwhelmed, I now stop, breath and access before I react. I especially found the "cool down kit" to be the most helpful out of the whole book. I use this in my everyday life now.

I've struggled with anger issues for almost all my life. No idea why. Its ruined lots of friendships and relationships for me in the past. This audiobook was an eye-opener for me, especially the chapter on how anger affects your family. If you truly want to work on yourself and become a better person, listen to this audiobook! I wish I had found this sooner.

Very helpful!

This book is a great resource for people with anger issues. The author provides information on anger, what it is and how to manage it.
I liked the chapter about the CBT strategies which I'm implementing. I have also started to write a journal as suggested and I'm finding this extremely helpful.

This convicted me

As I'm getting older, I find my fuse getting shorter. I've noticed in the last year or so, I have less tolerance and patience and quickly see red. This audio book helped me realize what some of my triggers are and how to best manage them. I'm a mom to three teen boys and I need to be a calming force in our home. The bonus section at the end of was a nice surprise and I'm hoping that working through the journaling prompts will help me as I learn to better manage my anger!

Very helpful book

I found this to be very practical and helpful. Plenty of starters to gain control and start helping yourself. I particularly enjoyed the prompts to stop the recordings to think about one’s own situation and write the relevant information down, this is likely to help retain the information as well as prompting the resulting / desirable action.

Useful strategies to manage explosive anger

Understanding what triggers your anger is paramount in getting it under control. I appreciate that the author dedicated a whole chapter to Identifying Triggers. I also like her approach of bringing in mindfulness to help manage anger. I had never heard of a Cool Down Kit, but it made so much sense. She did a great job in describing the usefulness of a Cool Down Kit, how to create it, as well as what to include in it. Useful resource.
