At 16, Anne is grown up...almost. Her gray eyes shine like evening stars, but her red hair is still as peppery as her temper. In the years since she arrived at Green Gables as a freckle-faced orphan, she has earned the love of the people of Avonlea and a reputation for getting into scrapes. But when Anne begins her job as the new schoolteacher, the real test of her character begins. She is learning how complicated life can be when she meddles in someone else's romance, finds two new orphans at Green Gables, and wonders about the strange behavior of the very handsome Gilbert Blythe.

Story
One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.

A pleasant Read
I became an admirer of Lugy Maud Montgomery's stories about Anne of Green Gables when I realized they were written to describe the same years that my beloved Mother was of the same age. The very descriptive words sent me back in time to understand the romance of her era. Now I am nearing the age of when she fell asleep in death, and listening to this book "Anne"s. House of Dreams" giave me such comfort and distracted me from the turmoil of the world now.

Nicely done
Listened to Mary Sarah's renditions of books one and two, Coleen Winton for the third and then Karen Savage for this one. If I had had the choice I would have stuck with one of the previous narrators, but Karen Savages is good, but for one point. At the end of every chapter she says '...end of chapter 4. Chapter 5...' And for some reason I found this deeply irritating. If someone clever at audible could remove these it would be much improved.

The whole book is out of sync
Unfortunately the whole book/ each chapter is out of sync - the narrator lists the chapter number but it does not match the Chapter Number in the index. which means it is very difficult to work out what chapter you are reading if you stop and go back later to try and find the correct chapter.
Also the app tells me I have finished reading the book when in fact I have not however if I click on the title it takes me back to the chapter I was listening too?!
I think part of the reason the book is out of sync is that the narrator tells me the reader that it is the end of a chapter instead of just pausing and then announcing the new chapter.
Other than that the book and narrator are good😊
