Publisher's Summary

From USA Today bestselling author Penelope Bloom comes the first novel in the romantic, sexy, and hilarious Anyone But… series.

Seven years ago, my best friends and I made a promise: No matter what, we would never date one of the King brothers. Even if they grew up to become megafamous, gorgeous, heart-stopping billionaires. Even if they crawled on their knees and begged for forgiveness.

But guess who just flew back into our lives in a private jet? And guess who just showed up to my job on my first day? Richard. King. Fortunately, it takes two seconds for Richard to reveal he hasn’t changed. Conceited. Cocky. Rude. Unfortunately, he’s also the kind of gorgeous that’s borderline offensive - with a jawline to make statues self-conscious and a grin that short-circuits my brain.

He’s spent years taking what he wants. I doubt he’s hungry for anything else - except me, apparently. There’s no way I’ll let him maneuver his way back into my life. My friends would never forgive me. I would never forgive me. But did I mention his jawline?

Just ok

Let me get this straight. These brothers are billionaires but Rich is afraid to tell his mother and father to f***-off and stop setting him up with women he doesn't want so he fakes a fiancée and wedding. He's a self-made billionaire there has to be some part of him that's alpha. The female lead kinda like her but she needs more backbone. Story was weak.

Just ok

This story had so much potential but it just never got there. It was super slow burn which isn’t my favorite but I can get past that because usually the characters are building on something. This wasn’t the case at all. There was no real build, they weren’t together and then they just were. No real development. Trust me, I’m not one of those people that gets mad when people fall in love quickly in romance novels. That’s to cause expected but this was just dry. And the end just seems rushed and weird. The last quarter of the book was just very awkward. Im honestly baffled that this book had so many positive reviews. The best part was the narrators. They did a great job which is the reason I finished the book. I wanna know Cade’s story but I can’t sit through another book if it’s like this one.

Predictable and juvenile

The performance is good, the story, however, is at best...horrid. Comes off as some high school melodrama with unbelievable characters.

Anyone But Rich is a boring book. I did not like the hero and heroine.
The story pace was too slow. I skipped many chapters .
I loved only the hero narration.

Book 1 of King Brothers

Three brothers who made it big in Silicon Valley move their business to the small NC town they grew up in. Why? Three girls they hurt 7 years prior at the end of high school and yet seemed to never forget
Three girls who swore to each other they would never date the King Bros
This is Richard and Kiera’s story. Great banter, some steam, low angst, enough to keep you on your toes
Great narration and can’t wait for brother No. story.

expected a bit more

(Rich & Kiera): ok, this book was a stretch. So Kiera and her three friends made a pact seven years ago to stay away from the King brothers no matter what. Let me just say that if you're expecting to find out something good about why they made this pact… don't hold your breath with this book. Because the reason really wasn't THAT serious… I mean it was, but not to make this type of pact. Rich and his brothers are moving back to town and building their headquarters, but that's not his only goal. He wants to apologize to Kiera and possibly get her back. The book has a good concept but I felt that Kiera was too willing to hold on to a grudge from seven years ago. Rich and Kiera have strong chemistry but despite that they are both pussyfooting around each other. In addition to that, Rich is trying to keep his bougie parents off of his back. The book has some funny moments but not nearly enough to hold this book together.

So arrogant turns to so sweet.

The King Brothers, 3 brothers moving back to their small hometown after leaving and making a billion dollar company. They decide to make their headquarters in their hometown. Their parents are old money with prestigious reputations and expect their sons to settle for influence in a marriage. Moving back Rich (Richard) wants to apologise to an old school friend who he upset and let down and wants to make amends. She made a pact with her friends never to get involved with a King. The pact is threatened when she get to know Rich again, after he keeps trying to apologise and she realises maybe she was hasty and too young when she made the pact as she realises she had feeling for him.

well I finished it..

The first issue was the male narrator, no problem with his actual voice but when Kyra describes Rich's voice as deep and rumbling, this voice actor was absolutely nothing like that so that bothered me.
The next was the sheep incident and that is just appalling and criminal not funny.
I don't get the parents relationship with their sons. These are adult guys with loads of money, not even living off their parents wealth, they are wealthy in their own right and yet their parents travel with them and control their personal relationships? who would be interested in any guy who was still tied to his parents in that way...big turn off.
The reason for hating Rich. I think it was justified but then she starts making excuses for Rich's behaviour. Poor rich boy didn't want his friends and coach getting in trouble, she missed out on a scholarship and ended up being stuck in a small town with her horrible father for the rest of her life. Ruined her life is accurate. I would be mad as hell too. But she talks to him and then sees his point of view.
The wedding plan! Why didn't they run off to Vegas and get married? have the wedding hit the papers and be done with it. The elaborate scheme was completely unnecessary and made absolutely no sense.
Sorry but I just didn't enjoy it
