The apocalypse.

But it is just a possible future. Max will lead a newly formed cohort of the best Knights-Errant into the apocalypse, where adventure, power, and danger await.

Along the way, Max will have to learn how to combine his spells most effectively, craft items that will make him a match for monsters, and discover new classes for his allies to unlock.

Fun story until he talks

Fun story but talking bud guy minions out of supporting their boss seems unrealistic. Max lots of over the top parts childish banter.

too many big conflicts resolved by a timely speech

don't get me wrong speeches can inspire and even stop conflicts but in this book they felt contrived. The shift from focusing on the apocalypse dungeons to politicking was jaring and left a lot be desired. Lastly the villains have the IQ of an amoeba making the resolution of conflicts even less satisfying. If it wasn't because I like the presmise the first book set up, I'd be dropping this series and if book 3 doesn't improve I probably won't any books in this series.

absolutely hate the the cliffhanger

the book and narrative were good but the writer likes to end these books in the worst possible place like actually completing a story thread is beyond his grasp or perhaps does not know the definition of cliffhanger?

Apocalypse Knights 2

This was a fantastic continuation of the first Apocalypse Knights and I look forward to the next one and what it may bring.

Nice, but...

It was really great in the dungeon, but half the book is dedicated to politics and trying to see who can outsmart each other by talking. Didn't like the war - killing people and killing monsters are two different things.
