Rated based on young adult type story

This is a really good young adult story series. If you suspend disbelief then you'll love it's characters and message. The other reviewer for this stopped at 4 episodes and said it made fun of the mentally ill people, far from it, it is very accurate and cares about people with metal issues. I would recommend for all young adults. If you are a conservative they do make fun of you a lot, just suck it up as it is a good story overall.

Empathetic, Entertaining, & Worth a Listen!

Came for Gaby Dunn, stayed for the engaging and lovable characters, extremely interesting plot, and thoughtful and sensitive portrayal of mental illness. Also, all the voice actors were great! Excellent performances. I'm glad I listened to it, and I would encourage others to do the same. I'm just disappointed there wasn't more. Can't wait for the next installment!

Raw Without Filters

Something new and incredible. A story of mental Heath issues told from the perspective of those experiencing the behavior and the medical issues it presents. An exceptional telling of a deeply personal nature. Raw, without filters. It expresses gratitude as well as deep inner insecurities. Unlike anything you’ve ever read or heard. 5 STARS!!!!

Good start, flat ending

I felt it started off with a really good premise and the acting in the beginning was very good. But after asteroid I felt like the story telling and acting took a hit. The author could’ve done a better job at explaining each characters illness without it becoming so didactic.
I felt like often the story was put on pause to spoon feed me what each illness was along with it’s associated behaviors. In many ways I felt like some of the main characters were rather flat and I definitely felt like I didn’t know much about them at all. I thought it was ok but a lot of the jokes got repetitive and old.

Too Many F Bombs

Enjoyable story, especially for just being an Audible member freebie, but there were too many F bombs. I like to listen to Audible on my phone while I’m getting dressed in the morning, but I couldn’t listen to this story bc I have children coming in and out of my room to get things they need to get ready, too. Even a D word or an SH word in place of them would’ve made this story a lot less cringey.

Please make a season 2!

I loved this. I listened to it all in one sitting this morning. It was amazing! I loved that this was a more realistic apocalyptic sci-fi. No aliens or zombies. Just real young adults, with real issues surviving in a somewhat believable scenario. I loved the realistic portrayal of people with varying types of mental health issues. That is a rare thing. Not some mainstream media BS.

The script was great. The voice actors did a great job. I would love to learn more specifics about the characters past lives... we only touched on a few. Also want to know what happens to them next. Where will they go? Will they try to find the Chinese people? Will they meet new survivors? Will Indy's dad find her? Find Arlo's family? So many unanswered questions.

Great Story

The people writing bad reviews because of "Politics" should listen to just more than the first episode. Also, it was accurate... phrases like that are being taken from real life. If you don't like it for those reasons, but are fan of that particular president, I guess maybe take a look at yourself. This is a story about teenagers... and their attitudes are based on that fact. Also, most of you listen to political books... they just align with your beliefs. So stop saying to "keep politics out of it"... you guys are ridiculous. I seriously can't wait for a second season. Make it more political out of spite please. =]

politically biased, would have been a good idea

if I didn't have to listen to the most biased propaganda ever, it would have been a good story. I can even handle a little bias, but this was over the top trash talk. if you have middle or right leaning values, you're not really the target audience.

excellent adventure!

I loved it, well acted and extremely funny. I'll been looking for more of Gaby Dunn's work..
I also liked the messages around dependency on psychoactive drugs and struggles with withdrawal. Good stuff!

ok but cuts off at the end

it's ok but abruptly ends just as things are getting interesting. A lot of loose ends. Actors were great & the sound effects help build an atmosphere it's just a shame it ended before anything is really figured out

Woefully incomplete

spent a lot of time building the characters and premise, while not really providing a lot of plot and intrigue. ended so abruptly . it's like taking a couple of uppers , bit by bit, and just when the high is kicking in, only to have a whole bottle of downers shoved down the throat.

well written, produced and performed.

Humorous and thought provoking in places.

Hope that the follow-up is done soon as it was left in a good spot to allow the next sequence of events.

Best podcast iv ever listen too⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved the fact that it touched upon the horrible struggle each person went through with their mental health and explained in depth about each character illness it was very light hearted also funny to listen too.
I loved the way it helps us understand what people with this illness goes through, honestly I was uneducated about mental health issues + the struggles living it.

Great story and great cast

The device of using mental health and reliance on medication in the face of an apocalypse was great. Really enjoyable story, I just really hope there’s a season 2 as the ending was pretty unsatisfying!

Unique apocolypse story but thats all...

loved the synopsis and was disappointed by the cast. It was narrated as if they were sitting around the table doing a cold read of the script. there was no real depth their portrayal of their characters and they were not able to grab my attention and hold on to it.

Not what I expected but I was super impressed with the sensitive but funny way they handled the stigmatised topic of mental health. Really felt the funny bits were funny and the serious moments land very well.

mental awareness

this had the potential to be a real eye opener for those of us with mental health issues. The chapters were too short in time length, they could have been merged to make them longer. you hardly had time to enjoy the 6 minute long chapters before down loading the next chapter. There was a powerful message to be conveyed, but sadly missed due to chapter time distractions. Fix it and this story will reveal what the author intended.

I love this book

The performance is amazing, the story line is great, the way it portrays different mental illnesses is perfect. I don’t think I have anything bad to say about this. Definitely worth a read if you’re into the post apocalyptic genre
