Story
My fellow Americans, we are here for one reason: the fact that I picked Marc Havak to represent us in the crucible of carnage. Now, before we talk about how fantastic I am at making world leader decisions, let’s talk about how great this sequel is. I've read many sequels, and all were bad. Very very bad. But this one? It's the best. And not just because I'm in it. No. Well, yes. I’m in it, and I always do a fantastic job with everything.

Story
The DEPP has transported Dave and his lovely women to another even more alien and dangerous version of Earth than the last. They have to begin fortifying their trans-dimensional territory if they have any hope of surviving these hostile environments. Cambrian Era monstrosities and massive tidal surges caused by an angry moon goddess are pretty nasty challenges for anybody to survive, but a flesh eating blob that wants to devour all life on Earth? That’s just not fair.

From book one: Being able to rip the soul out of a creature, store it in a precious gem, and use it to cast spells might make me the most powerful student at the Astra Argent Magical Academy. Only I can’t tell anybody about it. Because it's illegal, and they’ll kill me if they find out. But they need me whether they know it yet or not, so I’m going to capture a lot of souls and cast a lot of spells. This is gonna be a crazy semester. This is a monster-girl harem dark-magic academy story.

Supervillains are murdering people in the streets, but yet superheroes are more concerned with gaining popularity than bringing the villains to justice. John Doc Henry had been on the shortest, crappiest end of the stick since the first day of his life; no parents, bad foster parents, and abysmal luck at every turn. The day his life changed started out exactly like he had come to expect. His car died on a rarely traveled road, and he broke his toe shortly after dodging the one other car on the road. When it stopped and backed up to him, the license plate read “LADYLUK”, adding insult to injury.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Publisher's Summary
Thank you, thank you, thank you all for coming. What a great-looking group of people we have here today. As your president, I feel it’s important to tell you all about this guy. He’s a great guy. A real stand-up guy. A real go-getter. His name is Marc Havak, and let me tell you, this guy is going to be huge.
See, when the aliens came down and told us they’d enslave all of the human race if we didn’t send our bigliest warrior to participate in their arena death games, I laughed at them. It was really funny because they obviously didn’t know who they were dealing with. Know what I mean? Then they said they would pick the greatest warrior, and they picked Marc Havak. He seemed like such an average guy, but he was a true-blue American. He even worked as a truck driver! That’s the kind of good guy we want defending us from aliens.
I took one look at Marc and realized he was just the right guy to save our planet. I always make the best decisions, and this one was one of the best decisions. Turns out Marc was really good at kicking alien ass. He won all the games, got all the prizes, and slept with all the hot alien women. And let me tell you, these women are some real beauties, and they don’t mind sharing Marc. He is just that great. Of course, he’s still not quite as accomplished as I am, but no one is.
There is more to it than that. You should check his story out. It’s a great story. A fantastic story. One of the best, and I know good stories. You’ll love it.

It’s ok
Author doesn’t know what any of the sci-fi terms he uses mean.
One example that really annoys me is the so called antimatter printers that are used to print antimatter constructs for the Crucible. If this was the case a single antimatter construct interacting with anything would destroy most of the planet.
Another extremely annoying example is the so called ‘dark matter’ energy constructs one of the characters supposedly uses. Dark matter is not purple energy, it’s a mathematical placeholder used to describe mass we can’t see to help explain why galaxies behave how they do.
The narrator constantly mispronounces words, and sometimes uses a completely different word in place of another (ie ‘viscous’, ‘vicious’).
All in all, if you are sci-fi OCD this series might give you fits, otherwise it is entertaining enough, even with the many flaws.

A good listen
Entertaining, Joshua Story did a nice job bringing this story to life keeping me listening. Logan Jacobs came up with a nice story that has a little different feel then others in this style of book. I listen to a lot of books as I drive around the county and this one was funny with an interesting concept and the characters kept me going with personalities Joshua brought to them. Over all I’ll be looking foreword to the next installment this new series.

Slap stick and cosmic
Fast paced smart ass hilarity from start to finish with a small twinge of adult situations that entertain without devolving into ignorance. I’m buying book two now and hope more are yet to come.
The narration was eloquent and fast paced like the story and the sound level was a beautiful constant that made this a truly enjoyable experience.

I was expecting this to be bad...
But, I had no idea just how bad it would be.
The Good:
+The premise of an alien death game is a solid concept.
+A few good jokes, such as the aliens that all speak like cap drivers.
+Joshua Story makes a valiant effort as the narrator, but it is not enough to elevate the writing.
The Bad:
-While Story does narrate well, a few of his character voices get grating. Especially, the leading lady.
-Characters are paper-thin, the main character in particular sums up his own role as being nothing but movie references.
-Mind numbing action applied without any skill or pacing. Many of the scenarios could take an entire book to depict.
-Stakes and motivations are all quite unclear.
-The story falls apart with the slightest bit of scrutiny.
-Describing objects, people, or concepts as being a combination of X movie and Y game.
Overall:
Curiosity got the better of me, but don't waste your credit.

Toxicly Masculine
That being used as a headline, this story is full of rediculous one liners, low key predictable outcomes, sexual innuendo and much more, it's the exact kind of mindless nonsense that helps me get through a days work.
The pop culture references are out of this world and each one brought a cheery grin to my face.
Kobayashi?!
Leroy Jenkins?!
The list goes on and on.
Don't let the kids listen, it can get quite erotic at times.
This is an audiobook I think the highest academics to even the most illiterate and vocabulary stunted truck drivers would love.
Highly recommended.

Not a bad Story but sex scenes are fade to black.
Generally like the story but felt ripped off when it came to the sex scenes. To be fair in the description it didnt say graphic sex etc but when authors are too scared to write in details because it may offend some listeners, it puts me off. So I wont be buying any more books from this athour. Sorry mate you lost me .
