Damn cliffhanger

This book was GREAT. My only complaint is there is a cliffhanger with no indication of when the next book will be out. I am a bit salty about this!!! I couldn’t give five stars because of the cliffhanger. I just want a good story with a bit of a conclusion then I don’t mind a part two!!!

I feel a trilogy...

Not up to Jesse or Miller standards for me, her last few just fell flat. This narrator was good but Edita Brychta was excellent in the Jesse and Miller stories. I may proceed with the rest of the series if there is one coming.

Great story and narration

Wow, where do I start? From start to finish I was riveted to Eleanor and Becker’s story and was frustrated when real life kept getting in my way. Be prepared, Artful Lies ends on one heck of a cliff hanger and I cannot wait to read the conclusion to their story.
I have been looking forward to reading this new book by Ms. Malpas ever since she announced it. Artful Lies is well written and so descriptive that I found myself wanting to revisit London as soon as I can. The characters were well rounded, strong and at times the situations they find themselves in dangerous and I found myself on the edge of my seat at times.
Eleanor Cole is my kind of woman, she is sassy, feisty and not afraid to stand up for who or what she believes in. Despite not getting off to a spectacular start, the sparks quickly fly between them, even though Eleanor knows that she needs to focus on her new job and not the boss who she is wildly attracted too.
Becker is arrogant, at times a tad immature, but there is something about him that draws me to him like I haven't been in a long time. There is so much more to Jodi Ellen Malpas’s characters, they are flawed, human and not afraid to show their vulnerability and it is here that Ms.Malpas weaves her magic.
There are so many layers to this story, it reminded me of an onion, being peeled away one layer at a time. I laughed, I cried, I worried, I sighed but through it all I was absolutely riveted to the story and the secrets and mysteries that surround Becker and Eleanor.
I am not a big fan of audio books narrated by one narrator but Kristin Atherton did an admirable job.

Jodi does it again!!

So beyond glad I waited until both books were available in the series because the cliffhanger is so horrible! I would have been outraged if I couldn’t get my hands on the second one right away. Great storyline with laugh out loud moments & steamy sex. I also really appreciate the fact that this isn’t a six hour listen broken down into two books. Narrator was a first time listen for me & I adjusted to her quickly.

Another great JEM series

I have missed JEM series stories. You really get to know the characters and fell in love with them. Looking forward to the next book.

A Compelling Read!

A++ Highly recommended for lovers of mystery, romance, history and art. The listener really gets a full sense of the characters — their strengths, weaknesses, and inner demons. To top it off, Kristin Atheron does not simply narrate this book as the main character; she actually BECOMES Eleanor. It’s a real achievement when the listener can suspend belief and feel as if he/she is accompanying Eleanor on her suspenseful and heart-wrenching ride. Don’t miss this one!!

Insane

Talk about plot twist...I did not see that coming..trust, love, obsession, betrayal wrapped in a pretty little bow. This book had me on the edge of my proverbial seat.

Good

New author and narrator for me. I knew about JEM but had yet to dive into one of her books. I liked this quite a bit, a decent story with some steam and heat. I wanted to like this more but maybe it's just this series? Except that ending...🤯 Kristin did a good job too.

Really bad

I was challenged recently to read a book in an unfamiliar genre. So I chose this book from the Romance section. It solidified why no one should read these stupid books. A simpering main character who can’t think for herself, an arrogant man, who we needed to be reminded a million times how perfect his body parts were, and an uninteresting and unrealistic plot line. Please re-examine your life and get professional help if this type of entertainment calls to you. And don’t let your daughters think this this ok.
