Story
Between tending to the whims of her seven-year-old and the demands of her boss, Viv barely gets a moment to herself. It’s not quite the life she wanted, but she hasn’t run screaming for the hills yet. But then Viv’s husband, Andy, makes his midlife crisis her problem. He’s having an affair with his (infuriatingly age-appropriate) colleague, a woman who - unlike Viv - doesn’t put on weight when she so much as glances at a cream cake. Viv suddenly finds herself single, with zero desire to mingle.

Publisher's Summary
A warm, funny read for fans of Outnumbered and the novels of Fern Britton, Fiona writes about life as it really is.
"Midlife crisis? WHAT midlife crisis?!"
Charlotte Bristow is worried about her husband, Will. With her 16-year-old daughter, Rosie, newly signed to a top modelling agency and Will recently out of a job, things are changing in their household.
As Will dusts down his old leather trousers and starts partying with their new, fun neighbours, Charlotte begins to wonder what on earth is going on.
So when Fraser, Charlotte's ex - and father of Rosie - suddenly arrives back on the scene, she starts to imagine what might have been....

Enjoyed but a little slow
Any additional comments?
I was slightly disappointed but kept listening. The story is nice but drags on a bit and doesn't get to the "crescendo" , so to speak, until the end then everything happens. I kept listening and enjoyed it but sometimes I would think to myself, come on, get on with it. Voice was good. The authors second book, The Woman who met her Match, is better than this one.

Good but not great
This is the fourth book I have read by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed the others but was a bit disappointed with this one. I only finished it a few days ago and now I am struggling to remember what it was about! The main character Charlotte just went on and on about how old she was, how everything had gone 'south' etc. etc... How old was she? 65? 80? 90? No, she was 38 for goodness sake!!! Parts of the book that were supposed to be humourous, (as in previous books by this author) were read in such a humourless way by the narrator that the point was completely missed. Not much of a storyline. I will still purchase books by this author though as all her previous ones have been brilliant.
