Very Helpful

I didn’t know what to expect from this book, but it confirmed in my mind that the attraction I have to Norse Mythology is something that I want to explore further and incorporate into my own spirituality. This book emphasizes the fact that a perfect reconstruction of the old Scandinavian religion is impossible, and much of the narrative was written through the lens of biased Christians. It emphasizes an individual approach to the faith and that there is no one way to practice. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in exploring this faith, or for anyone that wishes to understand it better.

Definite overview

I have read Essential Asatru and a Practical Heathens Guide. This is a must read or listen to anyone who is interested in following the old gods or as an introduction to family members to better understand. Very well researched and reads like a breeze

Information was good, But

Yes you do have to have Europa descendants to be Asatru.

I’m sorry but “colored” people can’t have everything. Whites shouldn’t be Jewish or Muslim or African.

We are all what we are. Take pride in your race and be what you are.

Insightful and recommended

I learned a great deal from this book. It shared many new things, reinforced things I already knew, and corrected some misconceptions that I may have never have known to correct.

Great listen

I listened to this along with reading the book. It helped a ton with the proper pronunciation of names and words. For someone that has always been infatuated with Vikings and recently discovered I am from Scandinavian decent, this was a great start on my journey to learn more about my ancestral heritage. So much more to learn. Enjoy.

very solid information

there is so much packed in here I could see it being worth owning the hard copy for continued refreance. or listen to this version at a time you can take notes and look things up. it was difficult to spell them from the audio alone for me. great resource though.

Interesting

I enjoyed this book, funnily enough i discovered it after listening to a podcast Dr Nordvig does with Daniel Farrand, knowing that he has a vast knowledge on all things Nordic i thought it would definitely be a good start

good book whether a beginner or not

I recomend this to most heathens, regardless of type or how far along the oath they are.
some very good points of view which go against the grain, lots of good advice for beginners.
I'd like to see a follow on book with more detail on practices and gods etc while their is plenty out there I find the different take especially coming from a hereditary Heathen background quite interesting.
