Publisher's Summary

The Vikings are known to most as the bloodthirsty people of North Germania. This is the extent of what the vast majority knows about them, aside from the fact that they used to worship well-built gods who waged wars and commanded thunder and lightning. Unfortunately, these are misconceptions that you'll further understand in this audio. The truth is that the Vikings were as human as any of us. They fought to survive, as most did during the first dozen centuries. Still, they had their codes, values, beliefs, and most importantly, a beautiful religion. A religion that managed to survive through prosecution and forced assimilation until it reached the modern Scandinavians.

The Asatru religion is centered on connecting with the universe in all its forms: internal, external, and the unseen but strongly felt. While its modern form differs slightly from how it was practiced back in the day, it still remains the modern Scandinavian peoples' way of connecting with their ancestors and preserving a way of life designed to nourish their bodies, minds, and souls.

In this book, you'll learn about:

  • The origins and history of Asatru. You'll understand its foundations and how it came to be the way it is. Not to mention how it was affected by the Christianization of Europe.
  • The core values of Asatru.
  • The gods, spirits, and creatures that followers believe in, worship, and revere.
  • The role of magic in the Asatru faith.
  • How Asatru is practiced in the modern world.

This is a journey through the realms of history, mythology, spirituality, and anthropology. It is a road that you must walk with an open heart and an open mind. Grab a copy of this book today, because it is only through boundless curiosity that you will be able to truly comprehend the full depth of the Viking religion, Asatru.

Need to pick a new narrator

Lots of great information, unfortunately the narrator butchered every word he read. My brain hurts.

Great guide.

A great starting place for new practitioners. Relatively historically based and gives a flavor to the religion in order to make it your own instead of a guidebook.
