It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

I couldn't wait for this series to FINALLY end.
Normally I love Mark Tufo's books with Sean Runnette narrating, but this collaboration with John "who the heck cares" O'Brian was the worst. The chapters where it is Mike Talbot's time to describe what is happening are good. Perfect Mike, Tripp, BT, etc., but when it's Jack Walker's, it becomes so monotone I fell asleep. Every time. In the final book, Sean Runnette, Finally gave Jack a small bit of a personality which was lacking throughout this whole series. Any time it was Jack's chapter I sped up the narration just to get through it.
Oh, how I loved Zombie Fallout and Lycan Fallout, but this collaboration fell flat on it's face and no amount of reworking could save it. The next time I even think to try another book that is a collaboration, I will think twice before buying. I had hoped, after the first book, it would start to come together and Jack would be spoken with at least some sort of a personality, but as much as I hoped it would, I was sadly disappointed over and over again.
The Only reason I kept going was the fact that some of the characters that were in Lycan Fallout / Demon Fallout were in this series. I truly wanted to see how that turned out and I did enjoy those parts, but as soon as it turned to Jack's part... 😴
I guess I got my credits worth, but this was a very painful lesson to learn. Don't always believe all the 5 star reviews you read. Check the lower ratings first. That seems to give a better idea of how the book will be. Not always, mind you, but it is a good starting point. I will take my own advice from this point on. If you enjoyed this series, great! If not, start a different one. There are so many great books to read/listen to out there, the choices are endless. Mr. Mark Tufo & Mr. Sean Runnette, you guys are great, but better luck next time.

Getting too convoluted and silly
I like Tufo’s stuff. I like O’Brien’s stuff. BUT the Tufo + O’Brien collaboration has gotten sillier and more convoluted with each new volume of this series. I’ve really tried to like them, but volumes 6 through 8 were not enjoyable nor fun. Too bad.

Well that was sudden
OK, Ive really enjoyed this series, but I have to agree with those that say the ending of this series felt rushed. The pacing in this book felt like that of a TV series that has been running for several seasons and was developing a story arch through the current season that would continue into a new season, but mid season the show was suddenly canceled leaving only one episode to hurriedly wrap things up. Even the epilogue felt extremely short and thin leaving much to be said.
On a technical note, I get suspending belief in laws of science for a story, but considering the authors are an ex marine and an ex air force special operations airman (hmm wonder where they got the backgrounds for Mike and Jack from) you'd think they'd know a bit about conventional explosives. Near the end of the book there is a scene where they slit open dynamite and pour the gun powder out of it into bags. It seriously threw me out of the story (there is no gun powder in dynamite and any soldier or even layman should know that). It just felt like they were over the story and wanted it done to the point of lazy writing and no fact checking . Makes you wonder if the authors started fighting or something, since the first 3/4 of the book felt like the same slow world building they used in the rest of the series, then the last quarter felt like a total disjointed rush job. Shame they ended the series so abruptly like that it deserved a better ending.

Don’t buy series
Love Tufo and tolerated the other authors writing. To be fair he did get better as the series progressed. The plot and arc of this series was forced at times. There was a lot of having to explain the plot later in the series because the underlying reasons for everything was still not clear by the fifth book. I was stubborn and wanted to see how it wrapped up, but I wish now I had not spent the money.

Excellent series! Had to buy credits twice but worth every dime. I did find some portions very complicated. I listened twice sometimes to make sure I understood the goings on. I am infuriated!!! are you kidding me mark? I invested in every book related to the series and this is how you end it? you should be ashamed of yourself. I adored you but upon the last five books my adoration resolved and the ending?? I'm so let down. I honestly love the story the first 10 books of the zombie apocalypse and I even read into the lichen series and love that too. but the ending of zombie apocalypse? yeah I am just beside myself I feel like I should be refunded for every book I purchased.
