Story
When everything is on the line, how far will you go to protect those you love? What if the cost of saving them is your soul? Would you pay it? I thought I was prepared for what was coming; that if I made sacrifices, I could win this game. I’m no longer afraid of the darkness or the monsters that hide in the shadows. I’ve become what I feared most, allowing it in to protect those I loved. Sometimes it takes a monster to win. Sometimes to fight monsters, you have to become one. My only fear is…can I come back from it?

Publisher's Summary
Creating a new House of Magic is hard work. Aria knew she had a tall task ahead of her, cleaning up the mess her family had made in the Nine Realms, but nothing could have prepared her for the horrors that awaited within the Nine Realms.
Dark magic has taken hold of the lands as Aria finds herself in the middle of an ongoing war while playing cat and mouse with Knox, who hunts her relentlessly.
To make matters worse, Aria's creature has grown impatient and is doing everything she can to get back to the monster within Knox, even knowing that Aria's heart is on the line.
How far will Aria go to protect those she loves from Knox's wrath? How long can she evade the man stalking her every waking hour as her body and mind fight against the growing need for him to claim her? Can she break the curse that has plagued the Hecate bloodline for more than 500 years while protecting her heart?
Maybe the answers lie with the mysterious silver-haired men who have come to Aria's aid, or perhaps they are just like everyone else wanting to kill or claim her, realizing she is the key to winning the war. Aria intends to bring the Nine Realms and the male stalking her to their knees in this fast-paced, action-packed, and sexy epic fantasy adventure.
Action-packed epic fantasy that will leave you breathless and cheering on the underdog.

Love the story… but the narration
There are new narrators … why change them? The new team are ok… but their voices actually change the tone of the story. She sounds week and he sounds fake. The old narrators were way better… the story is still amazing so you can get over it but a good narration can make a big difference.

Male voice ruined it
I don't mean to be rude, but the male voice was just toooooo deep. It was so distracting and took me out of the story. Also, the story just kind of went in circles and was very redundant. FINALLY the last quarter of the book it picked up a little and we got to see a bit of a characters depth. Just a little bit. If the story picked up like that in the first quarter rather than the 3rd, and if the male voice was the same as the first book's... and also wasn't so filler-word-repetitive, then this would have been more of a 4 star. I am being generous with the 3.

Read the book, skip the audio
I absolutely love this series, which is why I wanted the audiobook in addition to the book. Sadly, I cannot even finish this audiobook because of the narration.
The female narrator is good. The male narrator is fine until he voices the main male character. He growls/speaks, which is so unrealistic and jarring. It’s almost comical. It also ruins the story for me.
I love this book and the author, and I hate even giving a less than stellar review. (I’m not even returning this audiobook because I want to support the author!) But I’m sharing my honest opinion in hopes that someone new to the series will not be turned off by the narration. If that’s you, read the books and skip the audio.

New male narrator is strong!
The author had to choose a new male narrator as the original person passed away. This new duo did a fantastic performance. Really did an excellent job bringing Nox, Aria, Lore, Greer, Brander and the other characters to life.
I’ve read the book and always buy the audible as a companion for re-reads. Highly recommend this book in any form you choose!

Epic but not as good as first book
I love how strong Aria is and all the havoc she created in the 9 realms. So many lol moments as well as epic battle and plenty of sexual tension. This book created more questions and didn’t really answer anything from previous book. My only complaint is the excess of the explicit sex scenes, I wanted more story and to see Aria kicking back sides.

sooo were is book 3? the narration this time round was so much better the duet narration (men speaking the males parts and women speaking the women parts) brings the story to life so much more.
