Raw, gritty and Dark!!

This one was raw, gritty and emotional!!
After listening to Lethal I immediately dived into this one and absolutely loved it.
I would recommend listening /reading this after Lethal although it can be enjoyed as a standalone as well.

The narrators Troy Duran and Veronica Parker delivery a gripping and compelling narration which made this one so hard to put down!

If you like a raw, bad boy, dark romance with an amazing narration be sure to pick this one up.

Another winner for MC romance!

This is book 2 in the Disciples MC series. I read the reviews about how this book was a "repeat" of book one and I could not disagree more. David/Poet is nothing like the character of Blade in the first book, the situation was completely different and the heroine, "Charlie" was nothing like Eve. The whole premise of the story was different than the first book, other than the fact that in both books the H/h met first at an earlier time.

David/Poet had been away for 9 years after losing his daughter and family in an explosion. He has a death wish but wants to avenge the death of his daughter before he succumbs to whatever life has in store for him. He is convinced his life is not worth living and that everything he touches is obliterated. Charlie met David when she was young and impressionable and it was love at first sight. Their story is one of anguish, drug abuse, MC drama and hyper sexual. It was hard to believe that a woman could love as hard as Charlie and put up with his disappearing acts.

David and Charlies story was good, but I would not give it five stars. It is graphic sexually and includes drug abuse and manic mood swings as a result. However, their journey and redemption is a good listen. I would recommend this book. Well done (again) Ms. Robbins!

Troy Duran's narration is stellar. He brings a sensuality that also reflects the strength expected in an alpha type male in an MC . I could listen to his voice non-stop! Veronica Parker also did a good job with her performance, however it was overshadowed by Duran, in my opinion.

David (aka Poet) & Charlize (aka Charlie)

***** Spoiler Alert *****

Audible review. Dual POV. Book 2 of 4 in The Disciples Series. Troy Duran's voice is perfect. Veronica Parker's voice is ok but didn't match what I imagined Charlie to sound like. Trigger warnings: drugs and alcohol; explosion killed David's wife, daughter, cousin & uncle; David kills Lucky; Jason kills Dozer & Burner.

David (aka Poet) was 21 & Charlize (aka Charlie) was 17 when they met in Charlie's parents' diner. David was in love with her but married to Debbie with a 1 year old daughter. On the day David decided to make a move on Charlie his wife, daughter, uncle and cousin were killed in an explosion. After David's family was killed he ran away from everything and got heavily into drugs. Nine years later, David (30) is finally clean and returns home to avenge the deaths of his family. Charlie (26) went to college, dated a bit and is now single and running her family's diner with her mom. David and Charlie come to an agreement after David tells her they can't be more than friends with benefits. David and Jason (aka Blade) figure out who the traitors were that supplied intel to their rival MC. They immediately kill all 3 men, David spirals back into drug abuse while the rest of the Disciples go after the other MC. Charlie helps David until he leaves her again for 3 months. David went to rehab, got clean a second time, went to Spain, his friend went to tell him it was time to come back. David returns, goes to Charlie, they make up, David proposes. Epilogue (1 year later): Charlie's 6 months pregnant for their son, they live within walking distance of Jason and Eve, and David gets a call that Dolly stabbed Edge...JP

Oxygen thief!!!

I wasn't a big fan of David after the Entitled Duet (if you haven't read them then you REALLY need to get on that). When I heard about this book and knew it was his story I was quite excited about it and felt totally fine spreading the word about it because I just KNEW and had total faith that Cassandra was going to change my mind about him. I was right.... through the eyes of Charlie, my feelings on this man changed before I was even 25% in! I started this book in the morning and was finished the same night!

David has had some bad stuff happen and didn't deal with it well, and now he thinks that he is broken beyond repair and is no good for Charlie. Despite this he can not seem to stay away from her. Their pull is too strong. I ran through a whole lot of emotions while reading this story. There is so much loss and pain felt, some truly heartbreaking moments. And then there are the sweet moments that make you feel like it is all totally worth it! Basically this book is a MUST READ. Another "more than 5 star" read for me.

You also get to know bits and pieces of some of the other members of the MC. I am so intrigued by them! I can not wait to see what their stories are! I am so ready for all the tears, laughter, heartbreak and love that this world of the Disciples has to offer..... I AM HERE FOR IT!!! Bring on all the bikers! (And Doug.... I need his story too).

🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧
The narration on this was pretty decent. I wasn't sure if I was going to be sold on Troy as David because I had an idea in my head on how he should sound. He didn't sound that way, but he still was a very convincing David in ways that I hadn't thought of before. Veronica was a different story. Unfortunately I was unable to get in the story parts that she narrated. I just wasn't getting the feels from her.

😡so much better than book one🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Although this book is definitely an emotional roller coaster, the story, and the Hero and Heroine are more likable. In book one, the heroine is a liar and a manipulative and the Hero is selfish and cruel. It all ends up working out but, I couldn’t get over my distaste of the that couple’s lack of true depth.

The heroine, in the story, is kind soul and a good person. The Hero is tortured, grief stricken and an addict but, he is a good man in his heart and soul.

They definitely have a rough ride but, they stay true and honest, to each other; which I much prefer.

The cliffhanger at the end, however, makes me wary about the road the next couple will travel.

Narration by female was tough to bare

It’s just my opinion and no one has to agree. I felt this female narration sounded automated and most times unemotional like listening to Alexa or Siri read. It was very off putting. The story itself was slow with the yo-yo love me leave me take me back loop over and over and over. The whole thing made me want to skip to the end and get it over with.

Not much of a story

This is my second read in the series and I’ve just found not a lot going on story wise.
I won’t continue on with the series.

Unsatisfactory

Kind of disappointed in the story of this one. I kept waiting for ‘something’ to happen; a turning point for the relationship or the club issues but it just kind of floats along. David is surprisingly dull considering his story and Charlie is just kind of pathetic.

Expected more.

Honestly, the first book was great, this book is basically the same story with different characters. Don’t get me wrong it’s entertaining, but the voice of the female character is just bland... there is no sultry or enticing anything in her voice so the intimate scenes are just so... uninteresting. She was not a good choice. There is no emotion in her voice. Like she is super uncomfortable reading this.

Anyhow, I’m still going to listen to the next book.
