When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution humanity has been waiting for. The Undying's advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and their message leads to the planet Gaia, a treasure trove waiting to be explored. For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an ancient alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study...as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don't loot everything first.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-selling series • The squad you love is out of time. Prepare for the thrilling finale in the epic, best-selling Aurora Cycle series about a band of unlikely heroes who just might be the galaxy's last hope for survival.
Is this the end?
What happens when you ask a bunch of losers, discipline cases, and misfits to save the galaxy from an ancient evil? The ancient evil wins, of course.
Wait.... Not. So. Fast.
When we last saw Squad 312, they working together seamlessly (aka, freaking out) as an intergalactic battle raged and an ancient superweapon threatened to obliterate Earth. Everything went horribly wrong, naturally.
But as it turns out, not all endings are endings, and the team has one last chance to rewrite theirs. Maybe two. It's complicated.
Cue Zila, Fin, and Scarlett (and Magellan!): making friends, making enemies, and making history? Sure, no problem.
Cue Tyler, Kal, and Auri: uniting with two of the galaxy’s most hated villains? Um, okay. That, too.
Actually saving the galaxy, though? Now that will take a miracle.

Ummm... I'm not all the way done yet, but...
This last one is disappointing. I've listened to several hours and absolutely nothing has happened.
Aurora's timeline is annoying as shit. The star killer is beyond annoying and useless as a character. He's SUPER bad. okay. we get it.
Zila, Fin, and What's her face WERE slightly more interesting... but that loop is getting pretty damn repetitive hours later.
Tyler's is the only timeline doing something after so many hours of listening... and I find myself only slightly interested.
I might DNF at this point... but its like a train wreck... can't stop til it's over.

Another good story from Kauffman and Kristoff
A bit less tightly written than I was hoping for. Still, a grand adventure with characters that we care about.
When the first Aurora adventure came out, I traveled with my daughter to Denver in 2019 where Meaghan met Jay Kristoff. She was beaming because she loved books and she admired the writing of these authors. Amie was home preggers at the time I believe or she might also have been there.
Meaghan had a quote from the Librarian from the NeverNight series tattooed on her arm, and there were several gems to choose from in those stories. The one she chose was, "Too many books, too few centuries."
Meaghan passed in December 2019, and what I want to share with you all now is that after many years, choosing to live in spite of the pain from her chronic illness, she lived a life worth dying for. Truly.
She was partly inspired to do so by the honest philosophy of these two authors, "The storm begs no forgiveness of the drowned."
And of course AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh, and also Benjamin Hoff's subsequent tie-in book, The Tao of Pooh, which was about accepting life on its own terms and making the best of it.

really good ending...took a bit getting there tho
**some minimal spoilers ahead**
I really loved this book series when I first started reading it over a year and a half ago. I remember being done with the second book and just dying to know what would happen in the next one!!
here's the thing. I wish I had read these after they had all come out so I didn't have to wait! (it's totally understandable why I'd had to wait). I think having to wait diffused the series' excitement for me a little bit. I restarted the series as soon as I got the third one because I didn't want to miss a thing, and while that was fun I'm pretty sure I could have gone without doing that.
So here's my overall review: honestly my rating changed thoughout the book, going from 3 stars to 4 and then jumping to 5! now, while I've rated this final one 5 stars, I think overall it was a 4 star experience.
the story: 4
the voices: 5
the overall: 5
the beginning of this book STRESSED me out! I don't totally know why, but it wasn't until the half way point that I was totally enjoying it to the point I felt like I couldn't put it down! I think it was an excellent way to end the series and I felt pretty happy with the ending, but I remember just wishing they had taken more time with characters. like Tyler's romance would have been more fun if they took more time for it (I listened to the book on X1.35 speed, so that may have affected it). but Finn's and Scarlet's was pretty good paced since it was also established throughout the series. and even Zelas wasn't so bad...(I don't know how to spell their names since I listened to a majority of them being spoken and not read). But I think tht is my main problem with this last one, I almost would have just wanted it to be longer for the character connections and developments.
so with Auri, I did get kind of sick of her story...even in the second book especially, I remember being bored (not once, but twice reading through again) it was also SO emotional and sort of exhausting with no breaks...and her and future Tyler should have had more time to reconnect and go through some emotions. I feel like he trusted her too quick or something.
anyway, that's really all I have to say. the ending itself was great and I think they did an EXCELLENT job wrapping up all the loose ends and tying it all together. the time travel was well done and I'm not going to take time to make sense of it. I was just entertained.
loved the series and I hope the authors come out with something new together since they are so good at their characters and storylines.

Utterly disappointing
For such an exciting and interesting trilogy listen to it limp to a disappointing and unsatisfying conclusion. Cringeworthy dialogue (seriously if I hear the terms holy cake or mothercustard ever again it will be too soon), characters acting completely out of character and a Disney movie-esque feel good happy ending, seriously Aurora destroys the rahaam with love? Come on I expected a little more from a series where the first two entries interested me so much,

Decent and satisfying, if a bit cringy at times
I know it's YA but I sometimes think they force the characters not to evolve or make wired decisions that make them remain teen-like even though their personality or experiences mean they should have grown somewhat.

I am not feeling nothing.
"We the Legion. We the light. Burning bright against the night."
The third installment of 'The Aurora Cycle' is INCREDIBLE, I am not feeling nothing, in fact, I am feeling EVERYTHING.
'Aurora Rising' ended on a massive cliff-hanger, leaving Squad 312 in a death-is-imminent situation. Yet Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff prove in 'Aurora's End' that dire circumstances are a 'piece of bake' to recover from, and an end is not always the end. As the Squad comes to terms with the baffling reality of being alive, and the interesting and perplexing dilemma's they find themselves in, they continue to fight - with their incredibly good looks in tack (mostly) - for the galaxy against the Ra'haam, divided though they may be.
'Aurora's End' is a truly engaging journey which flows perfectly. I was absolutely floored by the characters - for the third time! - and their verbal, and non-verbal interactions - Kaufman and Kristoff, as per usual, artfully wield humour as a finely honed blade, hitting the mark with continuous precision. Every twist and turn Squad 312 faces throughout the book are epic and often emotional - I was genuinely surprised near the end. And if you have forgotten some of the important details since you last read 'Aurora Rising', never fear, the authors have you covered with the opening 'Stuff You Should Know' section; I honestly wish all authors did this, it is great having a memory assist.
Unfortunately, I finished the book too quickly, and I was not ready to move on. Which is why I shifted sideways, straight to the audiobook that has allowed me to experience everything again, in a much more vibrant way. The narrators are terrific, they all truly capture and convey their characters - their personalities and manners of speaking. And just to note, the way Jonathan McClain portrayed Tyler gave me Captain Kerk vibes, so perfect!
