For years, Starfleet Intelligence agents have carried out undercover assignments deep within the Klingon Empire. Surgically altered and rigorously trained in Klingon culture, they operate in plain sight and without any direct support, while collecting information and infiltrating the highest levels of imperial power. Their actions have given Starfleet valuable insight into the inner workings of Klingon government and its relentless military apparatus. After three of Starfleet’s longest serving agents fear exposure, they initiate emergency extraction procedures.

A mysterious terrorist organisation has carried out several attacks against the Federation and Klingon Empire. Tensions are running high in a region already crippled by conflict. The perpetrators are tracked to the Lembatta Cluster, a mysterious region of space whose inhabitants, the Renao, regard the Alpha Quadrant s powers as little more than conquering tyrants. Publisher's Summary
The past comes back to haunt Captain Jean-Luc Picard in this brand-new thriller set in the universe of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Section 31, the covert organization that has operated without accountability in the shadows for more than two centuries, has been exposed. Throughout the Federation, the rogue group’s agents and leaders are being taken into custody as the sheer scope of its misdeeds comes to light. Now, Starfleet Command must decide the consequences for numerous officers caught up in the scandal - including Admirals William Ross, Edward Jellico, Alynna Nechayev, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard, who, along with many others, are implicated in the forced removal of a Federation president.
Meanwhile, deep in the distant, unexplored region of space known as the Odyssean Pass, Picard and the crew of the Starship Enterprise must put aside personal feelings and political concerns as they investigate a massive, mysterious spacecraft. Adrift for centuries in the void, the ship is vital to the survival of an endangered civilization that has spent generations searching for a world to sustain what remains of its people.
Complicating matters is a band of marauders who have their own designs on the ancient ship, with only the Enterprise standing in their way....

I just don't buy the premise!
I rewatched Insurrection. That JLP would never have done anything like this. He didn't violate the UFP's laws and regulations when ordered to do so by SFC, and it is inconceivable he would have done so "in secret." The lawyer character and the admiral character were two dimensional, flat.

an interesting yet refreshing story.
I appreciate the first contact scenario especially the way it was portrayed. It certainly kept a story interesting. But I did not like the politics that played all through the story. So sick of politics being added to everything now. it's almost like childish unimaginative writing. I had hoped for so much more from it.

Enthralling and Gripping Sci Fi Tale!!!!
This audiobook is once again read out in the sublime and perfect manner of Robert Petkoff. He is a fantastic narrator and this audiobook is one of the many other audiobooks that he narrates so well. Dayton Ward is a brilliant author and this novel proved to be a masterpiece in its inception. The political story of Section 31 exploits and of Picard's doings coupled with the story of meeting an unknown derelict spaceship in the Odyssean pass was a wonderful tale. An excellent entertaining experience was had and I look forward to listening to other Robert Petkoff Star Trek audiobooks.

A very good book, very well read
I enjoyed this book, with it two story line.the main story line with the seemingly derelict massive ship and the aggressive salvagers, and the twist which come to light were very enjoyable with great characters and story line. The second story line with section 31 and the legal ramifications were intriguing but not so well investigated as I would have liked. I know this was the B story but a more in-depth investigation of section 31 would have been great. Having said all that it is a very good book which I recommend to any Star Trek fans

A new tale told in classic Trek fashion
A great split narrative, with the Federation reeling from a political scandal at its very core and the crew of the Enterprise continuing to boldly go where no one has gone before, encountering new friends and...allies?

Intriguing Story.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. The continuity of Trek literature these days is fantastic and to see the repercussions of past actions coming to light in new stories is highly satisfying.
As interesting as the political aspects of the story were, for me it was the situation that The Enterprise encounters in the Odyssean Pass that was most entertaining. Great new aliens and concepts in an investigation laced with plenty of action.
Petkoff.... just outstanding.

As the last starfighter in Squadron 111, only Midshipman Henry Gallant can stop the invasion from an alien galactic empire. With the United Planets space fleet on the verge of annihilation, Gallant can expect no help. With so much uncertainty about the aliens, analyzing the captured equipment in his possession is critical. The four books in this audiobook collection include Midshipman Henry Gallant in Space, Lieutenant Henry Gallant, Henry Gallant and the Warrior, and Commander Henry Gallant.
