Publisher's Summary
Oprah Winfrey Network TV host and number one New York Times best-selling author Iyanla Vanzant calls Awake, “A visionary page-turner!"
On December 21st, 2012, the world was supposed to end.
When the apocalyptic date came and went, the world concluded the Mayan prophecy was a myth. But it was not. The Earth was saved by extraordinary intervention from planet Akara — home to an awakened civilization far more evolved than our own.
To protect the individuals involved, this story has been a well-kept secret. Until now....
Long ago, on Akara — a planet in the Pleiades cluster — the Ravaging Era raged. It was a time of toxic greed, rampant warfare, and environmental devastation. Akarans were on the brink of extinction. Out of the turmoil, a critical mass of beings connected to the Wisdom and experienced an awakening. This tipping point sparked a spontaneous shift in consciousness across the planet and ushered in the dawn of a new era — the Rebirthing.
A thousand years later, Mobius is born an Anomaly.
He is less evolved than his fellow Akarans and lacks access to the Wisdom. While competing to be a flier in the Discovery Corps, Akara’s elite space program, he stumbles upon an ancient relic. The artifact reveals that a rogue space commander from the Ravaging Era attempted to colonize the Earth in 720 AD and planted a time capsule in a Mayan pyramid.
When Mobius discovers the capsule is about to open and destroy the Earth, he races across the galaxy on a mission to save the precious blue planet.
Joined by Diego — a Guatemalan paramilitary ranger, Jillian — an American heiress and environmental activist, and Inka — a Mayan shaman, Mobius embarks on a geo-quest to prevent the Armageddon. If he has any hope of success, he must learn to connect to the Wisdom. Together, the unlikely crew races through exotic Mayan ruins amidst the lawless jungles of Central America in search of clues to find the time capsule.
The final clue uncovers a shocking revelation that unlocks Mobius’s secret destiny and creates the possibility of a mass awakening of human consciousness. A Rebirthing on Earth.

Instant Sci-Fi Classic with Heart & Consciousness
Awake: The Legacy of Akara by Dayna Dunbar and Julia Nadine Padawer is a groundbreaking masterwork that fills a literary void that is needed more than ever in these tumultuous times. The authors succeed in delivering a gripping, “can’t put it down” instant sci-fi classic replete with romance, action, and suspense. The true achievement, however, is that the story is infused with consciousness, heart and spirit, wisdom both new and ancient, and a powerful message for our time. This is deep sci-fi written for the healer, the lightworker, the metaphysicist, the mystic, the philosopher, the activist, for the “awake” reader. It sheds Light upon the suffering and sickness that pervade our society, while painting a luminous vision of a brighter possible future, one that we can achieve if we commit to love, sustainability, recognition of our oneness, and our inner Wisdom. It inspires and teaches without preaching, while remaining highly entertaining, with characters that are deeply relatable yet complex. The book is accessible to the casual reader, while a deeper reading will reveal profound depth and wisdom lovingly interwoven into an intricate multidimensional tapestry. This book was a wild ride that took me into heart and opened my mind, that kept me thoroughly entertained and on the edge of my seat from start to finish. “Take the leap” and give it a read!

WOW!!!
Let me start by saying I am NOT a fan of sci-if - in fact, at age 76 I have yet to see one episode of Star Wars, Star Trek or any other sci-fi movie. It DID take me a bit to get into the terminology, but a friend who had read Awake encouraged me to stick with it - and boy am I glad I did! The character development, story-line, accuracy of detail and the writing are simply remarkable. I could NOT put it down - and so I figured out a way I didn’t have to - I bought the Audible version! Now that is indeed a double reward…in addition to an incredible story, the narrator is absolutely the best I’ve ever heard. Awake is an extremely well-written story of humanity, “other-world ness”, history and most of all HOPE in these frightening times. From one who had a slow start with Awake, I’ve now read it, and listened to it twice on Audible (and actually found things I had missed in the first listening). Please do yourself and your psyche a great favor and read/listen to this amazing adventure.

Can a book be important and fun at the same time?
I so enjoyed this book, from start to finish. The pace was quick and steady and turns were taken that I didn’t anticipate which made it especially fun (and I'm usually a few turns ahead with most books). The wide variety of well-defined characters were a joy to take in and to let live inside me -- there was just an immediate rapport and trust with the authors somehow. The telling was so visual – I experienced it as if I were watching a movie (wouldn't that be great?!).
Can a book be important and fun at the same time? I do hope this is a growing genre, because it’s what we need right now - story that addresses our very dire planet-wide circumstances, but also brings forward the more promising potential slumbering within humanity. The message is, overall, very uplifting but not in an airy fairy way. It’s uplifting because there is a real sense that the principles underlying the fictional tale are what is actually playing out in our time. It’s as if the authors are saying, “Yes, don’t deny our circumstances, but don’t be daunted either. Look what’s also happening – and you’re a part of that. Lean into it!” And with that message, was a kind of compassion which made it easier to let in as well and so didn't come down like a hammer.
With all of this, I always felt respected by the authors. My trust as a reader was never betrayed and I even felt included as an element contributing to the story somehow. I was a bit sad to reach the epilogue. I wasn’t ready to put away the characters, the rich visuals or the story and how it had made me feel. I was very pleased to see there will be more to come!
Oh, one more thing ... I feel compelled to comment on the quality of the narration. I can't imagine their finding a better voice talent for this book. Perfectly matched! He added so much to my experience of the book. I'm glad there's a way to rate performance because this was definitely five star!

Exceptional Storytelling - Fell in LOVE with Characters
What a ride! I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter. The development and evolution of the multifaceted beings on this journey allowed for me to connect and participate in a very heart-opening way. I appreciated the care of detail to the futuristic sciences as well as the Mayan history. But perhaps it was the ever present attention to the evolution of consciousness that spoke most deeply to me. The inclusiveness of the messy parts as well as the exalted. Really looking forward to Book 2! Would LOVE to see this as a movie series! Please!! :)

Fun and inspiring
Awake starts off as your typical Sci-fi Adventure Thriller. However this book is so much more. The incredible detail and forethought the authors had in writing this story is so impressive! The thought they gave into how we can decrease waste and improve our planet, to all the different science and biology concepts or theories, to how we as a human race could involve into a more enlightened species where we don't see poverty or pay for basic human necessities like food leaves you thinking and wanting more. The narrator did a fantastic job of giving a voice and accent to all of the different characters which made it easy to envision each character speaking. Overall, if you are looking for a good Sci-fi Thriller that is fun, educational and uplifting, Awake is the book for you!

Science Fiction feels hopeful.
I would recommend this book to people who need a reminder of why our planet is worth saving, who want some escapist science fiction which will bring them home to themselves again.
It was well-narrated, well-written, kept me interested and curious all the way through to the end — and beyond.
There are a lot of great things I want to say about this book.
I bought this book after hearing about it in an online group about being intentional when envisioning the future — not just a future for oneself or ones immediate family, but an approach to “future-tripping” which begins to imagine what it could look like to have a heart for the whole planet and all the living beings on it. This book kept me hooked for a marathon of listening, and curious about the possibility of the lives of the characters continuing the story in the future.
I think fiction — especially science fiction — is a wonderful medium for painting vivid pictures of the futures we’d like to see, and, in the “guise” of entertainment, offering words as a kind of medicine for the realities of the world we find ourselves living in. Fiction can allow readers to develop deeper curiosity and more complex relationships with complex topics, which most news reports just don’t have the capacity to satisfy.
As I accepted the invitation-to-adventure that this “fish out of water”/“coming-of-age” story offered me, I also thought a lot about the ways that working with others towards meaningful goals can help each of us to find our purpose, discover that we may have more to offer the world than we generally assume; and can lovingly help us to challenge and enlarge our assumptions about “why we’re here”.
The characters in this story each came from backgrounds which limited their ideas about themselves, about their capabilities, and their potential for growth, change and contribution. Seeing how each character dealt with the “glass ceilings” of cultural conditioning and their own internal messages of self-doubt was inspiring for me.
This story was a loving reminder that the first step in any journey is just to be willing to show up. I’m glad I showed up for this book. It really showed up for me.

Interesting, original concept.
This book isn't on the level of a great book but as sci-fi/fantasy goes, it is quite original and it is a good story, hence five stars. Typical sci-fi stuff turns ETs into enemies because, well, that is how humans tend to think, always afraid of the unknown. But what if they aren't enemies? Or what if the majority of them aren't? This book suggests that we need to rethink how we view ETs and to appreciate that we need to elevate our consciousness if we are to understand those who are more advanced than we are.

Awesome story
This was a gripping story from beginning to end. Well narrated and thought provoking. These days more people believe in races from other galaxies and the belief that if enough of us raise our vibration we can change the trajectory of our planet. I really enjoyed this book.
