Publisher's Summary

This book is dedicated to exploring the gods and goddesses that the Aztec people on the pre-Columbian American continent worshiped, and within the pages you will find subtopics like:

  • The origins and influences on Aztec beliefs, or in other words, where they got it all from
  • The most important themes in Aztec mythology
  • Gods and goddesses and their background stories from Aztec mythology
  • Aztec myths about the creation of the world
  • Details about the Aztec empire, their art, religion, and more
  • Legends about Aztec women who became goddesses after they died from childbirth

Aztec mythology is intricate, complex, and the ideals behind some of their mythological beliefs were often intertwined with real-life events. This book will examine how both myth and fact contributed to the culture and traditions of the Aztecs and how these influences and some stories continue to live on throughout the centuries.

A terrible listen for any Spanish speakers

I got this book with high hopes after just having listened to a couple of other audible productions, This was sorely disappointing, since the beginning the reader sounds like a generic British accented computer generated reader. The pronunciation of the god's names is terrible and it changes constantly, sometimes within the same sentence. I would suggest spending a little bit more in production values and getting a person familiar with Nahuatl phonetics and do a better job at this. This is so bad that it makes it nearly impossible to follow without laughing involuntarily, or even understanding what or who the book is talking about.
I see this as a great disrespect for the source material and the culture that you are writing about.

unlistenable

the narrators voice is so awful & offensive to the information this books holds I cannot even listen to it & it's the stories of my heritage. This needs to be recorded by an Indigenous person.
I would return it if I could because I will not listen to it.

narration was horrible

Narrator should have taken the time to learn to pronounce words and names right. Disappointing.

its ok.....i guess

I think the narrator needs to do a little bit more research on the way that certain words are pronounced and maybe somebody without a different accent in their speech would be a lot better

Very Informative! I learned a lot.

The book was great! The narrator has a nice voice, and reads the material smoothly, however, he lacks the pronounciation for this geographical region.

Pronounce

I enjoyed the book but the narrator was not able to pronounce the names properly. It would have more enjoyable if he pronounced the names correctly. Had I known I would not have bought the book and for now on I will listen to the clips so I can hear what the book sounds like. Lesson learned

The Aztecs were cruel

They worshipped certain gods and goddesses with human sacrifices. It's crazy to think that people thought this way.
