Publisher's Summary

The sea heals all things.

Tempest Island has weathered the worst of storms and still stands proud, providing its residents with the healing power of the sea and sun. When Alayna Scott’s life falls spectacularly apart, both professionally and personally, the executive chef’s only thought is getting back home to the island and her aunt Bea. Between the two, she hopes to put the past behind her and figure out how to move forward.

After being injured during a mission, Navy SEAL Luke Ryan is at a crossroads concerning his future and recognizes that his new neighbor is on a similar journey. But in addition to being in a state of flux, it’s clear to him that Alayna is worried about something besides her future, and Luke wonders what kind of secrets are behind the fear she’s trying to hide. When Alayna’s past comes rushing in, attempting to pull her under, Luke wants nothing more than to help her make it through this storm and on to calm waters.

But are Luke and Tempest Island enough?

Bad Narration

I love this author. I lost interest in the story because of the narrator. She was not suited to this story AT ALL. She sounded old and all the male voices sounded the same and not attractive at all. Ruined it for me.

terrible narrator. be sure to listen to the sample

I love J.D. I adore the Miss Fortune series so I didn't even hesitate to get this book. I've just started so I can't rate the story. but the narrator is all wrong for this story
I can't put my finger on the problem, I just think she sounds too old or something. I hope I can finish the book. I'll update once I finish.

Narration takes away from the story

The story is interesting but the narration is terrible.
It is not a "typical" Jana DeLeon book. I have really enjoyed the Miss Fortune and Mudbug books. I have also enjoyed her single books.
This book does not have the same comedy/mystery as the others, however I enjoyed the story. but after listening to a couple of chapters, I bought the book and read it instead of listening to the story.
I love reading but audible allows me to multitask. :-)

Not what I had expected

It was a good story but I come to expect to laugh out loud with this author, that was not the case with this book.

good but not the usual

I've come to really love Jana DeLeon's characters and communities and stories... but this book lacked the humor and the gusto. the narrator was okay.. but not fabulous.

Disappointing

I normally enjoy Jana DeLeon's books but this one was really disappointing. The book is 9 hours long, with the first hour setting up the story, about 30 minutes of action in the whole book and 7.5 hours of inane whiney dialogue. I got so tired of the main character recounting over and over again about what happened to her and how she can't trust any longer. This book should definitely not be in the Mystery/Thriller section because I knew almost from the beginning who the bad guy was so there was no mystery and it was not thrilling.

Not her best

Partly the narrator, had to listen at 1.25. It was more romance than mystery. Romance is filler and trite. Give me a good dtory.

Again Ms DeLeon proves she is a fantastic author

I loved the book, the storyline kept me interested from the beginning to the end. Not surprised though, I enjoy every book she writes, and I was not disappointed with this one. I truly enjoyed listening to Hollis McCarthy, she has a voice that is a perfect fit for this story.

Halfway through - can't keep interested.

I will try again, but at this point I just can't keep interested enough to continue listening. I have backed up several times, just not "something", not sure what.

Backrush

This is a lovely love story, with bigger than usual hills to climb, not as funny as the Misfortune series but full of tension and suspense. Read brilliantly by Hollis McCarthy.

Great new series

I loved everything about this series. Great characters, small town feel to island life. Looking forward to the next in the series and revisiting Tempest Island

Tempest Island

I like Jana DeLeon’s writing and this book was no exception. I love the humour and the sassy women (both young and mature). Also the narrator is one who I look for as I love her voice. A proper feel good book
