Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets. Secrets that cost us everything to keep. That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to. Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence, due to my illness, and all were punished.

But of course, there’s a catch - all I have to do to claim my birthright is prove that I’m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria. Mercenary Casia Greythorne cares about two things: completing whatever her latest job is and earning enough coin to buy the expensive medicine that's keeping her mentor alive. So when the king himself offers her a job, she can't resist the massive reward he offers - even if it means working with Captain Elander, the arrogant, mysterious right-hand to that king. Her partner may be infuriating, but at least their mission seems simple and quick enough: investigate the origins of the strange plague that's been ravaging their empire, help find a cure, and then call it a day.

Story
An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

Hold on to your credit or money!!!
I'm sorry but this is a story that just seems to drag on. And no matter the good intentions the main character has every decision she makes seems to come back with an unforeseen or unexpected negative side effect. And it always seems like the enemy is 10 steps more ahead... And seriously if somebody goes through a prison as bad as that and then has nightmares and trauma long after it and then suddenly it's thrown back in another one!?!? And then let's waste a few more chapters in a story just to describe the trauma from the first prison and now have an entire book that takes place in a prison!?!? My heart has lost interest in this story! for God's sakes throw a reader of bone give the main character or characters that are being killed off a boon! I'm not saying there shouldn't be challenges but the amount of challenges being thrown in this book seem very unwinnable. Also half the books are filler, you can only hear about sex and gossip so long before it gets old. I'm tired of wasting my credits on something that sounds more and more depressing. I've lost interest in the story and don't think I will continue.

Tough to get through
The first three books I had high expectations for the fourth however about midway I lost interest. Too many characters introduced, story becomes bogged down with a lot of details that don’t really add anything to the story just seem to drag it out. Always when did the heroine go from a bad ass to such a whiny and self loathing, but still reckless character. Finally finished and honestly it was tough.

Taking too long to get to the point
I feel like at this point I’m invested and I have to finish. This is like soap opera long. So many eye rolls while reading. Of course there’s a cliff hanger just to make me keep punishing myself. I kept skipping forward to get past parts. Ugh 2 more books kill me now. What a great way to destroy a great story line draw it out into 6 books.

A bit slow, but still good
I LOVE the Savage Lands series. It’s the only series I’ve listened to multiple times. The slow burn to book 3 was definitely worth it. This one, however, is the slowest paced book so far. A lot of the book feels like filler and not much happens. Stacey Marie Brown’s writing is still superb, but I did find myself slightly bored and extremely annoyed with Brexley. Brexley seems to have forgotten litter everything she learned in the first 4 books and repeatedly makes the same mistakes. I wish we would see a lot more character development and emotional growth from Warwick because at this point, it’s just an emotionally abusive relationship that Brexley needs to leave ASAP. Killian or Ash would be a better partner for her, tbh. Warwick is sexy as hell, but he has zero redeeming qualities.
***spoilers ahead***
My absolute least favorite trope is the “powerful heroine loses her powers” trope. However, SMB does a good job of making sure we understand that Brexley’s powers aren’t gone for good (thank goodness), BUT when Brexley starts feeling trickles of her power returning, she brushes them off as imagination/hallucinations. Like how many times does she have to hear from others that they have no idea how her powers work before she realizes that her power is different from most and she probably didn’t burn all the way through it?!! I spent the last several chapters wishing someone would slap her so she’d come to her senses.
I am curious how Brexley’s mother will play into the rest of the series, because after her reveal as a Necromancer, it seems that there is a lot more she needs to impart to Brexley. I also am wondering if Brexley bringing the Necromancers back to life has broken the curse on them? That is a very interesting plot line that was just kind of abandoned in the middle for no reason. I also have a hard time believing Brexley would just leave her mother so quickly and willingly after finding her.
All that said, I need book 6 on Audible ASAP!!!!

Ugh
Just finished this book and I am so disappointed. I had told myself to push through and just finish the series. Just found out that it’s not 5 books as I thought but rather 6. Unnecessary. So many repetitive things, it’s like the author just couldn’t or wouldn’t come up with anything good. The heroine’s stubbornness is supposed to be a good trait but she just continues to come off as entitled, immature and just plain stupid. I won’t even touch the so-called romance. Im gonna try to finish the series just cuz I’ve already wasted 4 credits on these books but will likely just get them from the library or through kindle or something to see if I can save money and speed through it quickly. It sucks because despite it’s initial flaws, it was an actually pretty interesting idea and story. The narrator at this point is driving me insane. She could be worse, for sure, but she’s just too much… Also, I would like for there to be a scene where this girl says she needs to eat AND actually eats the food and keeps it down. Ridiculous.

The narrator gets all the stars
There needs to be trigger warnings in the description. Because this book is truly dark.
I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 books and devoured them all within that past few days. I never loved a narrator SO much. she does such a great job at all characters. She deserves an award. She is by far one of the best I've listened to in a long time. & I have A LOT of audio books lol.
I absolutely love this story, I do, but I am beginning to feel used and like the author is just dragging this out for as long as possible. I hate when authors do this!!! Seems to just keep on happening now a days. It doesn't become about the love for the story and characters or even fans. It's all about money. At the end of this, I felt beaten down and depressed. The constant losses and truly f'd up crap that just keeps on happening. It gets redundant and ruins the story. & this really could be amazing, but it gets lost with all the fluff or, more like continuous explanations of what it's like to always end up on the losing end. How much disappointment can you give one character book after book before giving her a win? Move it along please. please!!!!!!!!!
