For Bixby Alexander Tam (nicknamed Bat), life tends to be full of surprises - some of them good, some not so good. Today, though, is a good-surprise day. Bat's mom, a veterinarian, has brought home a baby skunk, which she needs to take care of until she can hand him over to a wild-animal shelter. But the minute Bat meets the kit, he knows they belong together. And he's got one month to show his mom that a baby skunk might just make a pretty terrific pet.

When Santa Claus is a cop, you better watch out. It’s not looking like a very merry Christmas for San Diego cop Nick Pappas. Suspended from his job, alienated from his family, and persecuted by the press, he’s sorely tempted to turn his gun on himself. Except for his first name, he couldn’t possibly have less in common with jolly old St. Nicholas. But when a local mall decides it needs a secret Santa to help collar some vicious muggers preying on its holiday shoppers, Nick’s persuaded to red-suit up so as to take the naughty punks down and avert a ho-ho homicide.

He rarely misses his life in the jungle. In fact, he hardly ever thinks about it at all. Instead, Ivan thinks about TV shows he's seen and about his friends Stella, an elderly elephant, and Bob, a stray dog. But mostly Ivan thinks about art and how to capture the taste of a mango or the sound of leaves with color and a well-placed line.

Story
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

One of the most amazing books I've ever heard
There were no parts of this story that I didn't like. This book got me interested in the other Dogs Purpose books and the movie. This is by far my favorite book that I have on Autobile! (I know I didn't spell that right) I gave this book a five star review because the book overall was really really good and I've listened to books that are read by Kirby Heyborne before and I listen to them before I go to sleep because his voice is very calming to me for some reason. Thank you for reading my review on Bailey's Story.

Loved it!!!
I listened to this book with our 2 grandsons, 9 and 7. We absolutely loved it! There was lots of humor but also some drama. There were times where I was able to give them some "life lessons" based on situations in the book. I highly recommend this if you are a dog lover. BAILEY, BAILEY, BAILEY!!!!
Would you consider the audio edition of Bailey's Story to be better than the print version?
I have always been an audio learner and listener, so I was so happy to find this book on Audible. I am sure the printed version was equally as good; however, to be able to listen to the story teller was such a pleasure! So I guess my answer is YES.
What did you like best about this story?
As with the other books in this series by W. Bruce Cameron, I can't pick anything specific because I loved the whole story best.
Which character – as performed by Kirby Heyborne – was your favorite?
Well, of course, Bailey! Kirby brought Bailey to life for me and caught every nuance of Bailey's personality for me to hear.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Oooohhh hard to choose! When Bailey and Ethan were in the woods lost, Ethan found out just how devoted Bailey was to him.
Any additional comments?
Without spoiling it for anyone who has not read it yet, I know readers will really enjoy the extension of Bailey's adventures from A Dog's Purpose and A Dog's Journey. The combination of W. Bruce Cameron's story telling and Kirby's wonderful narrating skills make for a great journey into the lives of Bailey and his boy, Ethan.
