Loved it!
Wonderfully told story of Bathsheba and King David. It was told through the eyes of Bathsheba and the prophet Nathan. "Bathsheba" was as good as her book "Ester". Angela Hunt is a gifted writer of biblical fiction. Although considered fiction, it is fact-based and very accurate. Highly recommend this inspiring story.

Outstanding in every way!!
From the writing by the Author to the reading by the narrators, this book is outstanding! Absolutely flawless. I was lost in the story!! I felt not only like I was actually there watching all that happened but recognized my sinfulness in the greed, jealousy and selfishness of some of the characters. Its so easy to look back and say "I would never have..." But this book makes it clear that we are all sinful and in need of a loving God and more than that, to seek and obey Him!! Listen to this book and enjoy all it has to teach you about yourself. I feel as if I personally met Bathsheba. Kudos to the author.

quite the lady
Bathsheba lived quite a life and was quite the lady. This book is a work of fiction but truth is interwoven into the story. Bathsheba was prophesied that she would bear a son that would be one of Israel's greatest kings. That son turned out to be King Solomon who she had with King David.
There plenty of trials and tribulations in getting Solomon to be king. Bathsheba was married when King David viewed her in her backyard and was smitten with her and decided he had to have her even though she was married and knew it would be a sin to take her. But take her he did. Then she turns up pregnant and King David conspires to have her husband sent into battle where he was killed. It came out via Nathan the Prophet that he had intentionally sent him to where he would be killed. But King David married Bathsehba when he learned she was with child so she wouldn't be discarded for his sin and she became one of his 17 wives. But she was always King David's favorite. It was prophesied that their first born son would die and he did die after 4 days. They suffered but eventually had more children, the next son being Solomon. There was constant turmoil in the House of David with lots of scheming by other sons who wanted to be king. But in the end the prophesy came true. This book is interesting if you liek these kind of subjects.
I had read another book by this author, 'Esther' and enjoyed it. I have to admit, though, I chose this book because of Leonard Cohen. I spent several years trying to figure out what the lyrics of his classic son, 'Hallelujah', were about. I finally googled the song to finally learn the song was about King David's desire to have Bathsheba. The thought I should read this book wouldn't go away and I finally got to it and I'm glad I did. All these years later Bathsheba is probably more famous than even due to the song.

I wish I hadn't even started it.
If you are a christian, I would avoid this book. I realize it is a fictional story, but it invents a story about David that makes him into a monster, when he is historically known as a "man after God's own heart". I can't review the full book since I had to stop just a couple hours in, as soon as I realized the liberties the author was taking.

Excellent read. Very enjoyable in depth novel depicting the story of Bathsheba, the beloved queen of King David.

A truly incredible performance/narration!
Rachel Botchan & Jonathan Todd Ross do an outstanding job! And, I've never enjoy a book narrator as much as I do Rachel Botchan. She truly makes the story come alive, as she adds a warmth and charm that is truly endearing and beautiful. I find myself looking for audiobooks that she has narrated, as I've become a huge fan. For Rachel, if I could, she would get 10 stars!
The story is wonderful! I see some become offended by the author embellishments, as Angela Hunt elaborates on the story of the biblical account of Bathsheba and David. I say bravo! This is the second of her books I've enjoyed and I look forward to many more. Her story has mystery, suspense, and treachery. Great stuff! While you think you know the beginning and the end of the story, there are so many twists and turns that keep you guessing.
