It breaks down real, tangible solutions.

This book is incredible. It breaks down real, tangible solutions to stress and burnout into bite sized, easy to understand and implement actions, and let's you get on with the hard work of doing them. It has a great voice and sense of humor, and really nails why stress and burnout affects us so badly.

I'm definitely sharing this one with all my friends.

A gem of guidance.

This book was a life saver, or rather a quality of life saver! It has helped so much now, but wish I had had it a few years ago. I needed “a plan” to get my life back and it has given me one while reminding me I didn’t create this sometimes crazy over-caffeinated world I’m not alone. Life is getting better. In a desire to pass forward this gem of guidance, hope and spirit this book will be my Christmas gift to many others.

INVALUABLE

Battling Burnout: Strategies for Overcoming Debilitating Stress and Reclaiming Your Best Life - is a book that tackles a problem that's more prevalent than most people give it credit for. This book offers actual steps, worksheets, and processes to identify how an over-stressed lifestyle is effecting performance and happiness. It's focused on measurable results in dealing with a pretty nebulous concept, which I found most valuable. It's easy to translate this book to the workplace, and see real performance improvements.

Listen to your body

Practicing yoga is one more perfect solution for the phase of imbalance you are going through. Find yoga classes in your neighborhood, or if you already have some experience with it, try to do it at home.

Yoga is a holistic practice, which means that it encompasses body, mind, and spirit. The practice of yoga can help to level out areas of your life where you have gotten off-balance. Yoga works to guide you through self-study and inquiry, to bring you on a path that is most suited to your needs. When you are going through a period of imbalance, some of your chakras (energy centers) and nadis (energy channels) might be over or under-stimulated. This inhibits or poorly directs the flow of prana (energy or life force) and can cause a sense of feeling stuck or stagnant. Practicing yoga will bring knowledge about it to the surface.

Yoga will bring you more self-awareness and quieting of the mind, so you’ll be able to hear messages you previously couldn’t hear from the background noise. You’ll be able to notice the sources of your life imbalance and why you became burnt out in the first place. This will help you combat your sense of confusion by gaining more insights and better understanding. Once you learn to be more self-aware, it will prevent you from experiencing burnout again in the future, through noticing how you are living your daily life and making the appropriate adjustments for living a more balanced existence.

will be referring back to it

The information in this book is well organized, presented in a palatable and understandable way, and the suggestions are concrete. There are so many concepts in this book that I intuitively knew but did not have words for that clicked into place as I listened. I have been recommending this book to everyone I know, will be referring back to it many times myself!

A must listen.

This audiobook has totally changed my views on hard times in my life and spirituality. It is an excellent addition to previous Mental Hygiene: How to Change your Mind which I purchased before. I feel It showed me the path to overcome burnout and change my life for the better. Thank you for such valid information narrated very clear and straightforward. A must listen.

Life-changing!!!

I highly recommend this book. It's the only self-help book I've encountered that also has a critical framework. A discussion of the structural and cultural barriers to self-care is sorely missing from the current "self-care" trend in pop culture.
Furthermore, the authors artfully weave science with critical analysis and lived experience.
Wish I could take a copy of this back in a time machine and give it to my former self. How much suffering I could have avoided!

An incredible groundbreaking book.

This is an incredible groundbreaking book, for everyone. The first two chapters alone are worth the price of the book, just for all the information on how stress and stressors work in our bodies and how to help our bodies heal. I recommend this book kinda regardless of where you are in your journey.

I learned a lot from this book.

This book is special and important. It's the kind of book you want to give to everyone you know because you know it will make their lives a better place. Very educational, especially the science behind burnout and stress. I learned a lot about myself and my stress, and finally an understandable way to manage it.

A must for anyone feeling the stress of burnout.

This is a great book for anyone feeling burnt out whether it is in your work or personal life. It is geared more for women which is a refreshing and relevant perspective. The audible edition was excellent as both authors were very animated and passionate in their reading. I loved how they incorporated a women’s perspective, current social climate, and updated science research. A fantastic book for anyone feeling the stress of burn out.

Relatable and well-written.

This book was validating, relatable, and well-written, but what I loved most about it was its practical advice that can be put into effect immediately. At the intersection of mindfulness and the modern realities of being a stressed out. It's also a quick read written in a fun, friendly tone.

Full on interesting tidbits of information.

Burnout is a great mix of research, humor, and continuous affirmation of the human experience. It is an easy listen, but is full on interesting tidbits of information and practical strategies for addressing stress. I appreciate the authors' courage to name the multitude of stressors facing women, which are so culturally pervasive that they often remain invisible. I highly recommend this book.

Cut Out Distractions, Single-Task, Work Hard,

Cut Out Distractions, Single-Task, Work Hard, and Take Breaks

When you are tired or lack sleep, it’s easy to think negative thoughts. It’s a natural response of our amygdala (a part of the brain), responsible for emotional regulation. Positive thinking, on the other hand, requires more energy and effort. How can you do this when you can hardly get out of bed? Burnout makes it super-easy to slip into negative thinking. Moreover, it worsens over time. How can you combat this?
You can learn to think positively. It’s a skill, and like any other skill, it can be mastered. There are plenty of techniques you can try out. You can start with affirmations. These are positive statements in the present tense, which declare what you want as if it is already happening. This will help you visualize the future. Visualization is also a great tool because it will make you feel like your dreams are happening for real. You will feel better and believe in what you’re doing.

Developing a habit of positive thinking alone is challenging. While recovering from burnout, it might be even harder. But it’s imperative, so don’t hesitate to get started. Begin with small bites, step by step. Gratitude is one of the most powerful yet easy techniques. Try to take a moment before you get out of bed to think about something nice, something you love, and something you’re thankful for. You can also try to close the day this way. Try to remember just one positive thing that happened during, no matter how small. Feel appreciation and gratitude.
Many small moments and little sparks of positivity and joy will group together and build a sense of well-being. Just give it a try and plenty of time.

Open your mind, your heart, breathe & feel better.

Burnout, while acknowledging that there is no one size fits all, offers the reader deep understanding of the nature of stress, distinguishing the the stress from the stressor. This really helps you come to terms with what you have control over and what you don't.

I particularly like how right up front they talk about how nothing is perfect - not science - not people - not the world. So open your mind - and your heart, breathe and feel better!
