Publisher's Summary

Be My Guest is the remarkable autobiography of legendary entrepreneur, statesman, and philanthropist Conrad Hilton.

Born on Christmas day in 1887 in the Territory of New Mexico, by 1929 Hilton owned hotels throughout Texas. Although the Depression erased nearly all of it, he never resorted to bankruptcy. Rising through turbulence and achieving prosperity, the “innkeeper to the world” brought the world closer together in glamorous destinations across the globe.

Conrad Hilton believed in himself, in his dreams and in America as the land of opportunity. In his own words, he reveals how mastering the art of living can also help listeners achieve their own personal success.

Great book, awful audiobook.

This abridged version is just a shell of the unabridged version. I guess that's the definition of "abridged" but this audiobook really misses what is great about the book.

Be that as it may, the recording quality is abysmal. You can actually hear cell phone interference and mid-way through the book what sounds like either a different narrator or the name narrator who moved into a new studio, got a different mic, and recovered from a cold.

Truly outstanding.

I had no idea that he was a devoted man of God. Incredibly refreshing to hear how he attributed his faith for his business success.

Must read

Although short this book has given some of the best vicarious experience and actionable ideas I have read in a while. Work hard, pray often, dream big and let me give you a glimpse into how this can work.

Conrad Hilton, A Real American

How refreshing it was for me to listen to this book by Conrad Hilton! It took me back to the times when I read of and about America and her people, their values and the great American. Now, having moved to and lived in America for many decades, I miss those times, when America was represented by many great, honest people (millions and millions of them), who lived proudly with a spirit of self reliance, independence, honor and a can-do attitude. This book by Conrad Hilton just made me smile an long for the good old times...

Great masterpiece book

I could not imagine that the founder of Hilton corporation passed through all these difficulties and troubles! He provided his 3 key ingredient for success that is: 1- pray, 2- work, 3- Dream.

As to pray, Too many bad things happened to him and he were in many seemingly hopeless situations to be rescued without expectations at the right moment.

As to work, there can be no success whatsoever without this vital ingredient, and no one can be successful without working hard.

As to dream, many people pray and work, however, they are not successful because they do not dream. He suggested that you must dream and be persistent to achieve that dream.

At the end of the book, he provided 10 achievable qualities that must exist in a successful person that I believe must be written in gold.

A masterpiece work

Quick read on a excellent story

A nice fast read that gives you a little detail on how Conrad Hilton built the Hilton Brand. It left me wanting more details but this was a good start at looking at the Hilton Brand. I was not pleased with the recording quality though and if it was longer that the 3 hours I probably would have stopped listen because of the quality of the recording.

Addictive!

I just couldn't stop listening to it, from the beginning to the end. An interesting account of Conrad Hilton's rise. The narrator was just outstanding. Short, but great.
