We all have a longing to be significant. We want to make a contribution, to be a part of something noble and purposeful. But many people wrongly believe significance is unattainable. They worry that it's too big for them to achieve. That they have to have an amazing idea, be a certain age, have a lot of money, or be powerful or famous to make a real difference. The good news is that none of those things is necessary for you to achieve significance and create a lasting legacy.

Story
Why do some people achieve great personal success, yet never succeed in building a business or making an impact in their organization? John C. Maxwell knows the answer. According to Maxwell, the greatest leadership principle that he has ever learned in over thirty-five years of leadership is that those closest to the leader will determine the success level of that leader. It's not enough for a leader to have vision, energy, drive, and conviction. If you want to see your dream come to fruition, you must learn how to develop the leaders around you.

Not able to accept the narrator voice
Anytime love John Maxwell's books and their contents and this one is a must READ book. But here the most difficult part is I'm finding it too hard and distracting to listen to the narrator's voice for John Maxwell. The message and the voice is a mismatch and that takes away the focus becomes prime distraction. Don't mean to distract any other listener but this is just my experience.
5 Start for John Maxwell's book but I will give 1 star for the narrator.

This book is part guidance, sermon, and wisdom
This book is part guidance, sermon, and wisdom. When people have a bad experience with a product/service, rarely will they inform the company. Yet they will tell a dozen friends about the bad experience and persuade many of them not to purchase from that company. This is why it is so important that leaders learn to be a 'people person' and encourage employees to do the same. Becoming a people person starts with treating people like how you want to be treated:
* Encourage people (you did a good job)
* Appreciate people (thank you)
* Forgive people (all is forgiven)
* Listen to people (what is your opinion)
* Understand people (I want to know you better)
The author is also a pastor and he has included bible references and parables, which may not appeal to everyone. Also, much of the content is common sense about how to treat people. It is a good book as a reminder, but not so much for learning anything new about interpersonal skills.

Much wisdom and soothing narration
So much wisdom in this book ..
it is to listen and repeat - also to have a hard copy book to highlight important new points.
In fact I am writing this review to comment on the lovely calm soothing narrative. His voice is full of peace and calm. I am familiar to his way and voice from other Christian books I listened to.
If you are looking for calming effect with good pacing to allow the ideas and points to sink in - then you will like the narrative and he will be your favourite.Blessings

Excellent Listen
I am biased to liking pretty much everything John Maxwell writes. This book is no exception. No matter what our walk in life, it is best that we be a "people person". This book serves as a reminder to be just that. Motivating people, loving difficult people, to becoming a person people trust, are all covered in brief chapters that can be read in the morning before you get out of bed or listened to during your commute.

Good book, poor performance
I enjoyed reading this book throughout the year and I thought listening to it will be an enjoyable experience. However, the poor performance of the narrator is just a stumbling block. The pace was slow and the pauses was awkwardly long i had to speed it up to make it sound 'normal'. Otherwise I love the content of the book!
