Publisher's Summary

Aaron "don't ever call me Fatbaby" Sims is lucky to be alive. Or at least that is what everyone keeps telling him. He doesn't feel lucky, though.

He's scarred, has more than a little bit of a bad attitude, and there isn't a single day that goes by that he doesn't wish his wife would've just finished off the job.

After being denied his old position at the fire department, he leaves, and doesn't look back. He heads straight to Alabama and into the semi-welcoming arms of The Dixie Wardens MC. There he becomes a part of a brotherhood that forces him to get back in the land of the living.

Imogen is a smart girl. A girl who doesn't always make the best decisions.

Her heart is in the right place when she walks into that prison, but it doesn't take long for her to realize that her heart shouldn't have had any say so in the matter. Especially when one wrong move lands her in the arms of a scarred man that looks frightening enough to scare any sane woman away.

Immediately enthralled by the angry man, she tries to get closer to him. But the harder she tries to get to know him, the further he pushes her away.

The only thing Aaron wanted to do after his now ex-wife was sent to jail was escape. Escape the awful memories. The pity-filled eyes. The curious glances.

He does a damn fine job at ensuring he draws as little as attention as possible, but then that annoying woman with startling blue eyes starts hammering away at his resolve. Makes him feel when he doesn't want to feel.

Imogen comes into his life and carves out a place for herself, obliterating his defenses one heated kiss at a time.

Contains mature themes.

Different kind of MC

This audiobook was certainly not about 1%ers or criminal like MCs. The hero is a former Marine who suffered terrible burns after returning to the US when his crazy wife hit him with her car when he was driving his truck. Disillusioned by women and his felling rejected because of his appearance, he moves back to his mothers house and joins the local MC club. While getting a classic car restored he meets the woman he just saw at the jail after she was injured by her brother-in-law who is a prisoner and gave first aid to her. They start to see each other and his heart begins to open again. The story was entertaining and narration was well done.

Part of the book feels missing

There was a part in the book where it felt like she had a plot then changed her mind but didn't what she had before

Great to listen too

Great book to listen too from page one to the last page. Imogen was smart and watching her sister's son while she was in the Marines and the father was in jail. Aaron was trying to put his life back together after his ex-wife tried to kill him.

What a mess. Just… no.

I don’t even know where to start. And, while I can multitask while listening, I can’t do so while typing. So instead of a detailed review, I’ll just list the things that bugged me most. (spoilers ahead)

- Title has no relation to either the cover art (that happens, big deal) OR to the story (rather a bigger deal).
- Overly descriptive sex scenes. I mean I’m not expecting a Regency here, but geez. At least they were few and short (to make more room for the story…?)
- Story is all over the place. Too many side characters, whom I assume I’m supposed to know from previous books. Too many things glossed over or just plain don’t make sense.
- Characters say and do dumb and borderline offensive things. These range from minor (locker room talk with practical strangers who are much larger than you, stories of domestic abuse told for lols) to holy-crap major (literal intent to murder someone by the FL).
- Oh, and there’s the incestuous rape of a minor. No apparent reason.
- Narrators have nice voices but there’s no real attempt to differentiate between the many side characters. The FN often ends sentences in a sort of sing-songy way that suggest it didn’t much matter what she was reading. It wasn’t all terrible, just… odd.
- The “cute” little quotes at the beginning of each chapter aren’t funny.

If you’ve read this far, here’s one bright spot: nothing bad happens to the dog. But, again, there’s no real reason for him to be there.

The premise had potential, but WOW what a miss.

Wasn't for me

The synopsis of the story made it seem like it would be about the recovery of the main male character and his developing relationship with the leading female. There were parts where a small time skip happened and made the story feel far from cohesive. At one point, I thought maybe I had caused the story to skip ahead and backed it up. There were so many scenes where details were glossed over or the story moved on like nothing happened. It was a little frustrating.

I don't feel like the author did much research about police officers. I realize that wasn't the main focus and tried to ignore that. By the end, I felt like there was just too much missing.

The last chapter was supposed to entice people to buy the next book, but with the way it jumped around, I felt like it's setting the stage for more issues in book 2.

The title doesn't have anything to do with the story and the cover model doesn't have a beard.

The wait is never a long period

As someone who has read and reread every single book that has been written by LLV I will gladly tell you that if you find yourself in love with a extra in your book. A hero buddy so to speak the wait is never long you’ll eventually get his story even if all seems hopeless for you, I waited for a very long time for Aaron’s story and it was worth the wait. In true LLV fashion she gave him the heroine he deserved after suffering at the hands of one crazy “B”

A great story

Another wonderful story from Lani and an great performance from both narrators
I have given this 5 stars but towards the end of the story I have to admit that there could of been a bit more written in between the time she was found and the time she had the gun. it didnt flow as good it's like a bit was skipped.. but apart from that it was great
