Publisher's Summary

Propositioning the Iron Wraiths’ money man seemed like a good idea at the time….

Diane Donner - recently divorced pillar of polite society - is craving danger. She’s tired of playing it safe, and she knows just the sexy criminal motorcycle man to proposition for a good time. Problem is, she doesn’t actually know his name.

Jason “Repo” Doe never takes risks. So when the queen of local commerce walks into his club, looking to get risky and frisky, Jason knows the smartest thing to do is save himself a headache while saving the new divorcee from her worst impulses.

But then one thing leads to another, and the memory of just-one-night doesn’t feel like enough.

Theirs is a story with no future, because how can a dangerous criminal win (and keep) a queen?

Beard in Hiding is book 4.5 in the Winston Brothers series, is a full length contemporary romantic comedy about two lost souls in their 40s, and is a companion novel to the Winston Brothers and Solving for Pie series.

If you want to get the full immersive Green Valley world experience, I recommend listening to Truth or Beard, Beard Science, Engagement and Espionage, and Marriage and Murder beforehand. Beard in Hiding contains spoilers for these four books (in specific).

More green valley goodness- fantastic narration

I love the world of Penny Reid and Green Valley. I have despised Diane Donner in the other books but my heart has softened with her a bit in this book. Repo is a bad man but he comes across as a totally different person in this book…sweet, smexy and caring.

I really hope we hear, see, and read more from Diane and Repo.

I read the book in 2021 and just listened to the audio. Chris Brinkley and Joy Nash are phenomenal. I love how they bring these characters to life - giving each their own personality filled with emotion and heart.

Never disappointed!

Couldn't wait for this one to be released. Well worth the wait. I hope Penny Reid writes more redemptive stories for the 40 somethings in Deer Valley.

Team Diane and Jason

Excellent introspective listen / read. Brings Jason (Mr Repo) and Diane’s story to a satisfying fullness and beginning. This is for them. A deep and quiet / private happiness and the beginning of being one’s self openly with another person who needs that openness just as much; and acceptance; and healing.

Didn’t realise how glad I was that few of the other character’s intruded nor were included other than by mention or reference throughout the narration. I really enjoyed that. It left so much room to forgive Diane WITH Diane by understanding who she is to herself, her family, the broader community, from her perspective and knowledge, that allows the listener / reader to find an abundance of grace for this woman who loves fiercely, judges herself fairly and with a forgiving toughness, and has high standards who made the choices she made based on the information and experience she had available to her.

And there is laughter. It’s not raucous, it’s muted and full. It is satisfying.

I wonder what the next installment will be…?

Happy listening / reading!

Leather and Bikes

Beard In Hiding by Penny Reid
Narrated by Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley

What a joy, this felt like the final piece of a 10,000 piece puzzle. To finally get Repo aka Jason and Diane’s story and it didn’t disappoint.
These two feisty and strong willed people find each other and build each other up all why keeping things on the down low … until things weren’t on the down low….
They made me laugh and then want to embrace them tightly.
So good to see Cletus and Jen of course but especially nice to see Billy and Twilight aka Issac.
Penny brought the story full circle and Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley nailed the narration as they always do.
Enjoyed this so much!!!

Enjoyable

I love the Winston brother series. Getting to see the development of Diane’s character and second chance at life was just what I needed. Also getting to see the development of Jason’s character was rewarding….. because none of us are just one thing.
I like getting to see different sides of the story and events mentioned in the other books. Very enjoyable and entertaining.
You cannot beat the narration team of Chris and Joy. They both do such a fantastic job. Honestly, they have set the bar very high for other audio books. Now that I know how good it can be I don’t hang in there with other books if the narrator isn’t good.
So, thank you Penny, Chris and Joy for creating such great characters and bringing them to life.

Great Addition to the Series!

I love the Winston Brother Series and the Solving for Pie Series. although I don't think this book is strong enough as a stand alone, it is a nice addition to the Green Valley Universe!
