Publisher's Summary

Propositioning the Iron Wraiths’ money man seemed like a good idea at the time….

Diane Donner - recently divorced pillar of polite society - is craving danger. She’s tired of playing it safe, and she knows just the sexy criminal motorcycle man to proposition for a good time. Problem is, she doesn’t actually know his name.

Jason “Repo” Doe never takes risks. So when the queen of local commerce walks into his club, looking to get risky and frisky, Jason knows the smartest thing to do is save himself a headache while saving the new divorcee from her worst impulses.

But then one thing leads to another, and the memory of just-one-night doesn’t feel like enough.

Theirs is a story with no future, because how can a dangerous criminal win (and keep) a queen?

Beard in Hiding is book 4.5 in the Winston Brothers series, is a full length contemporary romantic comedy about two lost souls in their 40s, and is a companion novel to the Winston Brothers and Solving for Pie series.

If you want to get the full immersive Green Valley world experience, I recommend listening to Truth or Beard, Beard Science, Engagement and Espionage, and Marriage and Murder beforehand. Beard in Hiding contains spoilers for these four books (in specific).

Freaking great!

Narrators Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley always a treat. This is probably my favorite story out of all the Winston brothers books. This has been the only book I could find so far with a survivor of DV finding love again. It’s a mature grown up, self assured love.
Only thing about it is you do really need to get through 3 books before it (“Beard Science”, “espionage and engagement” and “murder and marriage”) but all three of those books are great too so worth it.

This was a surprising favorite of the Winston Brothers series. I loved that the main characters were older.

Jason has my heart

super happy to have this short telling of Jason (Repo) and Diane.

I loved that it really told how the past dosen't define who a person is or and grow to be. It was a beautiful told story from both Diane's and Jason's point of view. I started this series with Knitting in the City and I am now completely wrapped up in the whole story from Chicago to Green Valley.

So happy to read a love story of older folks falling into love. That’s real life, it happens all the time.

Penny Reid has done it again! This love story spoke to me for various reasons. The way Diane and Jason aka Repo slowly fell into love. Besides their one night stand, a year later they’ve become friends. Their individual past experiences in love and how it shaped their way of thinking and their decision making going forward. Even the way they loved each other. Good story, now, where’s the continuation?

Fan for life!

loved most of the series

first chapter was the best. too much s*x. really liked the MMC but his constantly saying he didn't deserve anything good got frustrating. unfortunately I can't hardly stand the FMC. she is demanding and spoiled. again, love every other book I've listened to in the series.... 4?

so much love for this book!!

If you've already fallen head over heels with Jen and Cletus you already know who Jason and Diane are. If not, you NEED to read their books first in order to fully appreciate this love story! (WB #2, Engagement & Espionage, then Marriage & Murder).

Jason (Repo) is a hidden gem amongst the coal that is the Iron Wraiths. Diane is Jen's overbearing mom who had mostly redeemed herself in my eyes after these books.

Chris & Joy are the only narrators who could do these characters the justice they deserved.

This book also fills in some blanks and wraps up this mini series within the WB series.

So happy for this unlikely couple!

More green valley goodness- fantastic narration

I love the world of Penny Reid and Green Valley. I have despised Diane Donner in the other books but my heart has softened with her a bit in this book. Repo is a bad man but he comes across as a totally different person in this book…sweet, smexy and caring.

I really hope we hear, see, and read more from Diane and Repo.

I read the book in 2021 and just listened to the audio. Chris Brinkley and Joy Nash are phenomenal. I love how they bring these characters to life - giving each their own personality filled with emotion and heart.

Never disappointed!

Couldn't wait for this one to be released. Well worth the wait. I hope Penny Reid writes more redemptive stories for the 40 somethings in Deer Valley.
