Story
Do you believe your struggle with anger stems from the wrong behavior you see displayed in your children? The knee-jerk reactions and blowups you're facing are often a result of a bigger set of "triggers". Some of these are external, like a child's disobedience, back talk, or selective hearing, while others are internal, like an overflowing schedule, sleep deprivation, or perhaps your own painful experiences from childhood.

Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

Publisher's Summary
Have you ever looked into the faces of the people who call you Mom and wondered what in the world you got yourself into?
If you're like many Christian moms today, you've been reading the headlines and watching the rapid-fire changes in our culture with frustration and fear. Let's face it: Moms today are facing questions that previous generations didn't even see coming, and even our right to determine what is best for our own children is under fire. Popular speaker and blogger Heidi St. John ("The Busy Mom") believes that today's mothers need a special kind of strength. We need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. We dare not rely on human strength for the battles we're facing right now.
In Becoming MomStrong, Heidi has a powerful message just for you - the mom in the midst of it all. Through encouragement, practical prayer points, and authentic "me too" moments, Heidi equips you for a job that only you can do: to train your children to hear God's voice and to walk in truth no matter where our culture is heading. God wants to use this generation of mothers to do something extraordinary:
- To be strong in the Lord
- To know who you are in Christ
- To impart that strength to your kids
In other words, he wants you to be MomStrong! So if you're feeling tired or inadequate today, get ready to find new strength as you join Heidi St. John in Becoming MomStrong.

Discriminating against homosexuality
I was so excited when I found this book! It’s always great to have a new self help book to put on while cleaning or during your quiet time. I especially was excited to see a book about parenting, Christian based and with great reviews. Unfortunately I was completely sadden and turned off to here in Chapter 2 her views and discrimination against homosexuality. It honestly broke my heart, YES I am aware this is a Christian based book but I have read plenty prior, I go to church regularly and practice a Christian Faith and have never heard such crude things. It didn’t sit well to hear that “we should not view this behavior as okay” “God said this would be happen” “Don’t allow false leaders (pastors, friends, family) to allow you to believe this is okay.”
It was at that point that I stopped the book.
My brother is homosexual, he is the kindest soul and has such a huge Christian Faith. He has overcome so much to get to where he is now, he has battled with suicidal thoughts because of these views a perceptions made by folks like this author who made him feel belittled, worthless, unaccepted and a horrible person for feelings he could not help.
I really wish this author would get off her high horse and realize that if she was this great endearing Christian she claims to be in this book she would be accepting and open minded about other people’s choice.
Please do not listen to her, you should always celebrate who you are whether that’s the LGBQT community or not.
And if you are homosexual yourself, loving the lord, seeking parental advice and come across this book.. remember you are worthy, loved and God will love you no matter your sexual choices.
I do not recommend this twisted version of Faith, parenthood and belief system.
Seek a book with a Christian Faith and open heart! Jaime Ivey is a great one. Anyone but this author.

I ordered this book in paperback months ago & every time I’d try to read something came up. I enjoyed reading it, but was always distracted by things. I finally decided to purchase audible, & the timing was great. Everything I was needing to hear & the right time. I was able to listen while walking, doing chores, tending to our livestock, etc. so glad I downloaded & was finally able to finish. I love how grounded Heidi is into the word of God. I love how she is truly encouraging but not fake about how her life truly is. Such a great book
I really enjoyed this book so much. It is well written and narrated well and is funny, thoughtful and challenging as well as encouraging and honest. I have come away from this book feeling - yes I can do this!
It is so hard being a Christian mother in the world today and I think this book gives encouragement in how we can become our best and help our children to grow into adults who will bless the world around them, capable to own their own faith and live it out. But This is not some esoteric ideal, but honest and gritty in places about the reality of being a Mum, but offering helpful advice and practical ideas on ways forward and always turning us back to Jesus. This books encourages me to look to him and that is the absolute measure of any teaching relating to God. Thanks for a great book Heidi and your honesty and love for us to share your story and ideas.

great book for any Christian mum!
really great book, the author reads it well, and it's easy to listen to. covers a lot of ground and I think this book is perfect for a mama who is in the middle of her parenting journey. not a "new mum" but not yet in teen territory is probably ideal, however any mum at all will benefit from this book. I've read a tonne of books aimed at mothers and this is definitely one of my favourites for an all rounder. recommend!
