Publisher's Summary

It was supposed to be a summer we’d never forget. Instead, everything was stolen from me.

The best friend who was more like a sister.
The innocent way I looked at life.
Leaving me with only unanswered questions.

Returning to the island is the second chance I didn’t know I needed. And Hunter is the surprise that knocks me sideways.

There’s a hurt in him that calls to my own.
A strength I find in sharing our scars.
Igniting a spark that turns to flame.

But someone isn’t happy about the world I’m building for myself. And nothing will stop them from tearing it all apart....

The experience is out of this world!

Reading the book was an experience on its own but the audiobook. Wow!! She makes Anchor Island so much more of a reality with the narrators chosen. Their performance took me on a whole new adventure. The experience is out of this world and it is one that shouldn’t be missed. Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon killed it as Piper and Hunter. This book and series is one not to be missed!!

Small town, romantic suspense perfection!!

Beneath the Wreckage by Catherine Cowles was small town, romantic suspense perfection! Catherine once again does what she does best creating swoon-worthy, protective hunky men that will do whatever it takes to keep the women they love safe. In Hunter and Piper's story you get all the mystery, the steam, the danger, and the love all set on my favorite little Anchor Island!

This audiobook is performed by Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon. I love this narrator pairing for Hunter and Piper. Erin Mallon portrayed all of Piper's doubts, insecurities, and determination as Piper made it her mission to fulfill her and her long, lost best friend Jen's hopes and wishes. Jen, who tragically disappeared when Piper and her were teenagers. Jason Clarke was amazing at conveying all of Hunter's various emotional layers, including him overcoming his painful past, to being the loyal, charismatic lover to Piper.. All performed in Jason's signature swoony growl that will make you fall even more in love with Hunter's character.

Overall, I adored this book! Hunter and Piper's love story was the icing on the cake to Catherine's beautifully written Wrecked Series! I always look forward to my visits to Anchor Island, where there is sure to be a little bit of mystery and a whole lot of love!

Great story fantastic narration

After I read any book I think that’s my favorite and after reading Beneath The Wreckage now I know for sure this is definitely it, we’ll at least until the next book!
When Piper was young her and best friend use to vacation at Whispering Falls with their family, dreaming and making plans for when they grew up and bought the camp. All their dreams came to an end when Jenn goes missing.
Years later with Jenn still on her mind Piper buys Whispering Falls, after years on neglect she has her work cut out for her and the construction group she hires.
Hunter still recovering from being shot will be mostly overseeing the project, still harboring guilt from first his best friend’s action and his employee’s crime he’s a float. Making a deal with Piper to stay at one of the cabins the two become close.
Someone doesn’t want Piper to get to close to the truth about Jenn.
This story was beautiful, intriguing and definitely who’s doing what, you’ll be sucked in and turning pages as fast as you can.
Catherine Cowles writes stories that’ll you glued to your kindle, book or audio or maybe a little of all 3. The audible is just as good, great narration.
Can’t wait for the next one!

Hunter’s story was so worth the wait!

“Life is full of unknowns. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take risks. Make that jump. Because as many things that can go wrong, a million more can go right.”

Hunter’s story was so worth the wait! The magic and mystery of each of the Anchor Island books has kept me so addicted to this series and group of friends. Piper and Hunter’s story had the perfect mix of suspense and romance, with a protective hero and strong heroine, moving from friends to lovers with a resort renovation as the catalyst for love! It was like my favorite HGTV show but full of romance and mystery, all my sexy handyman fantasies!

Piper returned to Anchor Island to bring the Whispering Falls Resort back to life and honor her best friends memory. Yet darkness still haunted the resort and didn’t seem to want to let go, which in turn meant Hunter was needed there for more than just renovations, Piper needed someone to protect her and her heart. I loved that she in turn was able to show Hunter that he could trust his heart, the mountain of guilt he carried for tragedies that were out of his control was not a burden he needed to carry alone. There was no stopping his heart from falling in love with the woman breaking down his walls, showing each other that peace could come from heartbreak if you found the right person to love. SWOON!!

“When anything is worth having, you have to walk through a few storms to get there. And I didn’t take you as someone who gave up easily.”

I loved the underlying mystery of what happened the summer that Piper’s friend Jenny disappeared, the plot kept me on my toes guessing as each new twist of the story of was unveiled. I definitely did not predict who was behind it all, each time I thought I had it, something else would throw me for a loop! Overall this audiobook was everything I wanted and needed for Hunter and Piper. Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon narrating created so much heart and hope for this story, definitely a must listen! And I can’t not mention Piper’s dog Bruno! He definitely stole my heart in this book.

Thrilling setting mystery and romance

Beneath the Wreckage is book five of the Wrecked series by Catherine Cowles
This is a standalone book in a series of books that can be read by itself without losing any plot points.
Piper Cosgrove is returning to the happiest and at the same time fulfilling promises for a friend who disappeared from the island when both girls were young teenagers- So there’s sadness there as well.
Hunter is the construction worker who comes to help Piper bring her vision of the summer resort back to its former life. He’s got a past he brings with him.
At first, these two clearly clash but they have chemistry.
There’s a mystery surrounding the resort. Someone doesn’t want Piper to succeed. They’re going to extreme measures to make sure she fails.
What I love about the book is the edginess and the intrigue.
The plot had me guessing almost all the time. The characters were so well created and nuanced.
The scene of the island and the resort made the mystery even more edgy.
The narration by Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon was flawless and on point.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romantic mystery. It nailed it.

beautiful and perfect end to this series!

This should come as no surprise that Catherine has written ANOTHER 5 STAR read in this series. I have loved Hunter since Reckless Memories and I knew whoever Catherine found for him would have to be really special. He is really a hero in all the books in this series, but melt my heart, he is The Hero to end all heroes in this book. Swoon!!
Jason Clarke is the perfect and only choice for this character and I will fight anyone who doesn't agree! His extra growly yet smooth voice personifies who I imagine when I listened to this book.
Erin Mallon is fabulous as his love interest, Piper.
Piper is so sweet, and determined and vulnerable.. her side kick Bruno had me in love and upset and crying in a few parts of this book.
If you've read the synopsis you know the basic storyline but of course, it's never easy or basic when it comes to Catherine's books.
I was 80% sure I knew who the suspect was with this book and yet again I was wrong ! I love that about her books, you get sweet, sexy, romantic and a double shot of suspense that leaves you guessing until the very end.

Hunter and Piper are perfection

I’ve been dying to get my hands on Hunter’s story and it was so much more than I could have imagined. Hunter carries so much guilt and sense of responsibility from events that happened previously in the Wrecked Series and Piper helps him get past all that while trying to find her own answers. Piper becomes the perfect addition to Anchor Island. She fits in perfectly and Hunter is just who Piper needed to coax out of her shell and open herself to a new support system.

Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon brought this story to life in ways I never expected. I loved the narration of this audiobook.

Beautifully Heartfelt & Captivating! Excellent🎧📚🎧

Catherine Cowles returns to Anchor Island with another fabulous “Wrecked” Series novel, and I loved everything about it, including the amazing characters, the interesting storylines and the outstanding narration. She is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style; she has an impressive ability to draw you into the story she creates. Her descriptive details bring you right alongside the characters, allowing you to see what they see and feel what they feel. The characters and storylines are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. She makes it very easy to care about her characters and maybe even fall a little, ok maybe a lot, in love with them. For years, Piper Cosgrove and her best friend, Jen, vacationed with their families on Anchor Island, staying at the Whispering Falls Lodge. Then tragedy struck, and the families did not return. As young girls, Piper and Jen dreamed of taking over that lodge. Ten years have passed and Piper jumps on the opportunity to make it happen. She bought the rundown property with intentions of renovating it and turning it into a flourishing business. She hires Hunter Hardy, a local contractor, to do the renovation, his company and workers have a reputation of being the best on the island. Hunter and Piper immediately hit it off, both are genuine and have kind hearts, they also carry a lot of weight on their shoulders. It was great to watch them learn more about each other as they peeled back the layers of themselves. I admired Piper’s tenacity and perseverance of not letting anything get in her way. And Hunter’s protective side was endearing. Piper’s dog, Bruno, was a scene stealer and the star of the show several times. Speaking of stars, Catherine Cowles penned a beautiful romance story with the perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, some mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense and a whole lot of heartfelt emotions. I loved how she keeps you on your toes, dropping hints and clues to what is going on behind the scenes, making you wonder who is behind it all. Just when you think you solved it, you are sent in another direction. Catherine Cowles, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon are the perfect cast to bring these characters to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the character to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These mega talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and their narration enhances an already awesome story to another level of awesomeness. Thank you for another fabulous listen. It is always a pleasure to listen to your work.

Fabulous book with great narration

Beneath the Wreckage is book 5 in the Wrecked Series. Each book Catherine releases is amazing and this one is no exception. Just when you think you know what’s happening she takes you on a wild ride of twists and turns. She is the master of suspense/romance and these characters are amazing. Both Piper and Hunter are dealing with events of their past that have last effects. Hunter is a who is still dealing with some scars and pain from his time in the service. Piper is still dealing with the guilt/sadness of her childhood friend - Jenny’s disappearance so many years ago…that is still unsolved. These characters are so beautifully written and we get a glimpse of characters from the other books in the series. Piper is a determined, strong, and independent woman who is restoring the resort to honor her friend Jenn. Owen is a hardworking man that is sent to work on renovations at the resort. There is an instant attraction but neither them are ready to act upon their feelings. However, the more time they spend together they confide in each other, protect one another and eventually give in to their feelings. They come together to work on a project that’s near and dear to Piper. They are great partners and Hunter is a great protector. Unsettling events begin to happen around the resort and they rely on each other to get through the fear and unknown. I received an audio version of the book and it is phenomenal…the narration is fantastic. I requested an arc and I am leaving my honest review.

Romance, suspense and mystery

Piper Cosgrove has returned to Anchor Island and it’s memories of her best friend Jen. She bought the resort that they used to stay at in the hopes of bringing it back to life.
When Piper hires Hunter Hardy and his construction company to help with the renovations, sparks fly!
Both Piper and Hunter try to keep the other at arms length and maintain a business relationship. They both in some way …“Struggle with guilt and ghosts”
But their attraction is stronger than their resolve. ;)
I loved the air of suspense and mystery in this story and there were some surprising twists. I listened to this story on audiobook and really enjoyed the wonderful narration.

Each book in this series gets better, I have loved each and every one.

These two narrators just never disappoint. Bringing this fantastic book to life.

Hunters is one book we had been looking forward to in the Wrecked Series, and Catherine sure did not disappoint with this one.

From the Prologue she had me gripped. Catherine made sure she gave us a bit of everything with this one, as we have come to expect from her amazing books. Suspense, romance, twists, a touch of angst and lets add some super hotness into the mix. What more could we ask for.

Each book in this series gets better, I have loved each and every one.

Piper was a great character strong and determined, but yet so fragile.

Hunter broke my heart at times, he’s carrying so much guilt from the past, but now he’s met someone who’s past rivals his own.

They soon learn they are stronger as a team as someone doesn’t want to see Pipers dreams come true. Things start to get a bit scary very fast but finding out who is causing the issues proves impossible.

Bruno stole the show though to be fair. He was fantastic.

A brilliant story yet again Catherine, we need Parker’s now 😏

Amazing book

Wow what an emotional and powerful story. We’ve met Hunter in the previous books but I don’t think we knew his pain ran so deep. An emotionally scarred man and an equally scarred Piper makes for a wonderful and emotional book. Once you start this series you don’t want to stop and each new character grips your heart and doesn’t let go. So when we finally see more of Hunter and the amazing man he is and how he tries so hard to keep Piper safe you’ll fall I love with him. This book is one you won’t want to stop reading from the first page to the last. I’m sad I’ve finished it now. I wanted it to go on and on. Listening and reading is the best experience to really enjoy this book and series. Wonderful narrators

Piper & Hunter...& Bruno!!

Whispering Falls is calling me, and Catherine Cowles brings me there as Piper has returned to restore the resort to it’s original beauty. Trying to find a way to deal with grief and the dreams she and her best friend had, she thinks this will be the answer. She finds the place in disrepair, and has Hunter and his crew there to begin the renovation. Little does she know what his presence will do for her. A budding romance, a 10 year old mystery, and threats that cannot be ignored all lead us to a fantastic story. Captivated by the scenes of the island and the wonderful characters, this story flows fast. I love Piper and her drive. Her for Bruno at her side, she stops at nothing to keep her dream going no matter how defeated she feels. Hunter is a wounded soul, and i love that he is unafraid to show it. His strength standing behind Piper is incredibly alluring and makes him a fantastic hero. And Bruno is star for me. Willing to serve and protect, and then lick the face of a child makes him the best dog! I love this story and this series Each book as good as the last, with cameos from our favorites just create that sense of continuity and community. Cowles has another winner on her hands

To make it even better, she cast Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon as our storytellers. Each so connected to their characters, it was easy to get lost in the story and feel like we are there witnessing it all. I love these two and together they made for a great weekend listen.
