In Bert Gardner Very Early New York City Alcoholics Anonymous, Bert tells a really great AA recovery story. He first got sober with Bill Wilson before World War II. He was referred to Bill by Rev. Sam Shoemaker. He stayed sober during World War II, but drank afterwards. Then, he got sober under Doctor Silkworth at Knickerbocker Hospital. This is a 1963 recording, and Bert was 14 years sober at the time of talk.
