Juvenile writing and basic information

I felt like i was listening to a Jr. high boy read his 7th grade report. The book would benefit from a qualified non-fiction editor. However, the information is VERY basic and can be found through a simple Google search. Much worse, the amateurish reading and unedited goof ups are distracting. I'm surprised Audible allows such low quality on their platform. Everything else I've listened to through Audible has been top quality. I sincerely have a hard time believing this book has received an average of 4.8 stars by legitimate listeners.

Overcome Its Challenges

I’ve read a lot of books on bipolar disorder, and none is the great mix of understandable and complete medical info that this guide is. Awesome info about managing various types of bipolar disorder to live a good life. So many books about bipolar disorder seem to focus primarily on how horrible things are for the family (which, I get it, they sure can be) and treat the person with BD as a burden and a curse, ignoring their humanity/experience, and mostly as medication evangelization. This book isn’t like that. It’s written for the person with BD and talks them through the mechanics of the condition, actual research on it, medication possibilities

Good book.

Bipolar can be extremely difficult to manage, even with the use of medications and therapy. This is one of the best resources of its type I've ever seen. While there is no easy solution to managing Bipolar behaviors, this is a resource I highly recommend.

Good book.

Very useful and thorough discussion of all aspects of bipolar disorder. As a layperson, I have most of the common misperceptions about this disease.

no real value and horrible speaker

this is a lot of summary and no meat
the speaker cannot pronounce any word with an e - and pronounced it with an i sound.
wellness sounds like willness

speaker also puts wrong stress on phrase bipolar disorder so i it sounds like biPOlr disRRder

can't listen to him at all

Redundant and unhelpful

To sum up each and every chapter: take your meds, go to therapy, get enough sleep and exercise, don’t commit suicide, eat well, and my favorite, be happy. Suicidal? Put on some happy music or watch a romantic comedy. What a joke. I had hoped this would be more of an academic, psychological exploration of the bipolar brain which would explain some of the nuances of the condition I suffer. If there were inspiring stories of people with bipolar discussing how xyz helps them, like a creative process or particular kind of therapy and how it was developed etc to inspire the listener, it would be far more constructive than repeating over and over the aforementioned. The narrator… the narrator.. listening to this man stumble through the performance with zero emotion is difficult, at best. I do not recommend.

Just amazed by the completeness…..

I found this book to be exactly what I was looking for: a complete overview of the aspects of Bipolar Disorder. The writing was concise, easy to read, and thorough. I do not have a single criticism. I learned so many things….just amazed by the completeness…..

Basic info and poorly recorded. Dont waste your time.

I felt confused at the overwhelming positive reviews in contrast to the overwhelming negative ones and after having listened to the first 30 minutes I can only conclude that the former are fake.

Unless you are like a 15 year old kid who has never read a self help book before and somehow magically got diagnosed without years of preceding symptoms, i don’t expect this book to be helpful.

It is very basic and, I agree with the other reviewer, reads like a 7th grade psychology text book (citations every other paragraph and all).

Even if i could make it through the horrible narration (“Bipolar DISoirdur”) i expect i’ll get equally basic info in the rest of the book, providing little more than a few hours of googling has already done.

In conclusion: the 3 hour 5 star bipolar book will be very tempting in relation to the 13 hour one. But its nothing you likely dont already know. Going to give the longer one a try. wish me luck!

Narrator is not helpful to this helpful book

Sorry narrator but at times you sounded like a computer speaking in monotone, helpful to go to sleep with but not helpful to the authors message

Amazing book, very helpful for the person with the

. The book covers all the major issues of those confronting the disease. I cannot praise this book enough, it should be handed out in the hospital/doctor's office after the diagnosis has been made.

Good book.

Even though my bipolar friend did not read the book or do the self journal exercises, somehow she knew and treated me better because, on that "bipolar wavelength," she knew I was not going to put up with her "irrational irritability" any longer.

A book the whole family should peruse.

A book composed so everybody can at last comprehend bipolar issue. A book the whole family should peruse to see increasingly about their cherished one or ones. Helped my family comprehend a great deal about how I feel and the battles I experience when they think things are fine yet inside I'm shouting.
