Story
The story of Ethereum begins with Vitalik Buterin, a supremely gifted 19-year-old autodidact who saw the promise of blockchain when the technology was in its earliest stages. He convinced a crack group of coders to join him in his quest to make a super-charged, global computer. The Infinite Machine introduces Vitalik’s ingenious idea and unfolds Ethereum’s chaotic beginnings. It then explores the brilliant innovation and reckless greed the platform has unleashed and the consequences that resulted as the frenzy surrounding it grew.

This time, Ammous delves into the world's earlier shift from the gold standard to today's system of government-backed fiat money—outlining the fiat standard's purposes and failures; deriving the wider economic, political, and social implications of its use; and examining how bitcoin will affect it over time.

In this fascinating deep dive into the evolution of monetary systems around the globe, Nik Bhatia takes us into the origins of how money has evolved to function in a “layered” manner. Using gold as an example of this term, he traces the layers of this ancient currency from raw mined material, to gold coins, and finally to bank-issued gold certificates. In a groundbreaking manner, Bhatia offers a similar paradigm for the evolution of digital currencies.

An expert, story-driven account of how Coinbase won the cryptocurrency game and set itself up to lead the future of banking and blockchain-based trading. This is the story of the people who made Coinbase, per PitchBook, “one of the most valuable startups in the US,” including the stoic, preppy founder and CEO Brian Armstrong and the bitcoin-obsessed former lumberjack Olaf Carlson-Wee, who turned their backs on the first generation of wild-eyed Bitcoin prophets to build something more profound and practical.

This book covers bitcoin’s blocksize war, which was waged from August 2015 to November 2017. On the surface, the battle was about the amount of data allowed in each bitcoin block, however it exposed much deeper issues, such as who controls bitcoin’s protocol rules. It is not possible to cover every twist and turn in the labyrinthine conflict or all the arguments, but I have provided a chronology of the most significant events. This book explores some of the major characters in the conflict and includes coverage, from both the front lines and behind the scenes.

We live in an extraordinary time. Technological advances are happening at a rate faster than our ability to understand them, and in a world that moves faster than we can imagine, we cannot afford to stand still. These advances bring efficiency and abundance - and they are profoundly deflationary. Our economic systems were built for a pre-technology era when labor and capital were inextricably linked - an era that counted on growth and inflation and an era where we made money from inefficiency.

During the Global Financial Crisis in 2008, our financial infrastructure failed. Governments bailed out the very institutions that let the economy down. This episode spurred a serious rethink of our financial system. In DeFi and the Future of Finance, Campbell R. Harvey, Ashwin Ramachandran, and Joey Santoro introduce the new world of decentralized finance. The book argues that the current financial landscape is ripe for disruption and we are seeing, in real time, the reinvention of finance.

Publisher's Summary
Ben Mezrich's 2009 best seller The Accidental Billionaires is the definitive account of Facebook's founding - and the basis for the Academy Award-winning film The Social Network. Two of the story's iconic characters are Harvard students Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss: identical twins, Olympic rowers, and legal foils to Mark Zuckerberg. Bitcoin Billionaires is the story of the brothers' redemption and revenge in the wake of their epic legal battle with Facebook - and the first great audiobook from the world of bitcoin.
Planning to start careers as venture capitalists, the brothers quickly discover that no one will take their money for fear of alienating Zuckerberg. While nursing their wounds in Ibiza, they accidentally run into a shady character who tells them about a brand-new idea: cryptocurrency.
Immersing themselves in what is then an obscure and sometimes sinister world, they begin to realise 'crypto' is, in their own words, 'either the next big thing or total bulls--t.' There's nothing left to do but make a bet.
From the Silk Road to the halls of the Securities and Exchange Commission to the Facebook boardroom, Bitcoin Billionaires will take us on a wild and surprising ride while illuminating a tantalising economic future. On November 26th, 2017, the Winklevoss brothers became the first bitcoin billionaires. Here's the story of how they got there - as only Ben Mezrich could tell it.

Underwhelming story
The problem with Bitcoin Billionaires is that it feels like the first half of a full story. There wasn’t any betrayal and overall it seems very sycophantic (even though they’re impressive) about the Winkelvoss twins.

Very entertaining and Fast paced
I really liked the story and how it was written. Ben Mezrich again managed to write the story in Such a fast paced and entertaing way that I won't be surprised that this book ends up being a major movie hit shortly. I would definitely recommend the book and read it again. Also Informative about bitcoin, although much less than I would have expected. Why ruin your reputation by arse licking ?
What is quite an interesting story was turned into a Ridiculous PR stunt. Nobody is buying the story that these two twins are visionary geniuses that have never done a thing wrong. Calling Charlie Shrem a kid is patronising and annoying . Failing to mention any of the negative of his two heroes and bypassing all the drug addiction and scamming and Other nasty stuff that was going on in this bitcoin world just makes the book irritating. The one rowing scene is actually like porn. I actually had to stop reading because I got so annoyed.

Worst Mezrich by some distance
The first 1/2 of this book felt like Mezrich had been threatened by the Winkleboys and so produced the most sycophantic account of them imaginable. Interspersed with this was an interesting account of bitcoin, nothing of any great depth but enough to offset the brown nosing. I was very close to returning this.

The kids who beat up the karate kid release a book
The Following is a review of this book as if Mark Zuckerberg listened to it and then reviewed it:
Bitcoin billionaire should have aptly been labelled Bitcoin bullies.
Ben Mizrahi is chasing another story to buy his next yacht with. He is the equivalent of a lawyer chasing ambulances to sue people for fraud compensation to make money.
Ben is so desperate for a story related to his previous book on me, the he made a deal with the devil with those dumb jocks who tried to sue me because apparently I stole their idea even though they did jack all work with their website and were sitting around rowing boats.
In his previous book, the author painted these guys as dumb jocks, now he tries to brush over this fact and goes overboard in praising them just because one of their investments worked out amongst their many failures
There are certain people who are leeches in society, lawyers, bankers and the Winklevi twins. They add no value to anyone and don’t built anything. Rather they seek opportunity to leech off other people’s creativity and hard work. They tried to leech off my company, they leech off the developers of Bitcoin, and they make money by selling blockchain crap to a vulnerable public.
What value have they added? None and they never will.
I was smart enough to realise that they were leeches and fought them. Charlie Shrem one of their partners led a sheltered life, and therefore is easily taken advantage of by everyone and got screwed by them (And others). And even though the poor guy has come out of jail and the Winkevi are billionaires- the Winklevi are suing him for a few million dollars to add more to ill gotten gains.
The only way these guys will make money is by sucking life from others. In many ways similar to the Goldman Sachs vampire squid analogy written by Matt Taibi in Rollingstones who defined as following:
a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money.
Look the book reads well and it is a page turner.
But I am smart enough to critically analyse and look up things when mentioned in the book.
Eg
Mizrahi argues that the Winklevoss were pioneers of two good ideas the social network and bitcoin. This is not true since they tried to hang on to people developing those ideas. Also when u have money, a lot of it, you are presented with more business opportunities to make money, like the twins were with Bitcoin. He does not talk about their many business failures. Also I made billions acquiring WhatsApp, Instagram, Oculus etc. Does it make me a genius or someone who has a lot of resources and some experience to make great decisions. You can look up Facebook failures I had as well if you want.
U can’t be rowing at Olympic level which they flopped at, and then run a business.
Mizrahi said the Winklevi knew html and so were technically savy. Hey I can listen to a heartbeat with a stethascope, that means I am a cardiologist.
In essence this book is enjoyable but be aware of the lopsided and bias in favour of the Winklevi.

Interesting sequel to The Social Network
Interesting at the start to hear what happened to the Winklevous twins after Facebook. It appeared although they have strong morals and are gentlemen of Havard, they continued to strike bad luck. Although it was interesting at the start it was long and dragged on a bit. Not terrible but maybe skip until the end once you start tunning out.

OK but only for BitCoin nuts
Not a great read. A lot of history but not anything anyone would care about unless you wondered what all the hype was. We still don't know the end of the story. An interesting concept but another IT system that is still being plundered by geeks - only on this occasion - you can't sue anyone if you lose your money. The only think about Billionaires is that by definition they were lucky, rather than clever. Had they lost everything no-one would have written the book. Whether there is more money to be made other than those involved early on will; be interesting to experience. I think more billionaires from BC are pretty unlikely.

not great
reads like the twins hired him to write a puff piece to counter the impact of social network.
the.number of times twins were described as "Greek gods" ...bit nauseating

Not the best mezrich
I really like Ben mezrich. He’s an easy to read writer who finds interesting stories. Regrettably this one felt like a pomp piece for the brothers. He’s a writer, not a reader.

Another Great Ben Mezrich Read
Loved this story although got a little lost through the middle with some of the characters. Have always been interested in the Bitcoin story and while providing a strong story line learnt a lot as well. Certainly a story of redemption for the Winklevoss brothers.
