Publisher's Summary

THE FIRST NOVEL IN THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING OTHERWORLD SERIES.

“Frisky...Tells a rather sweet love story, and suggests that being a wolf may be more comfortable for a strong, smart woman than being human.”—The New York Times Book Review

Elena Michaels is the world’s only female werewolf. And she’s tired of it. Tired of a life spent hiding and protecting, a life where her most important job is hunting down rogue werewolves. Tired of a world that not only accepts the worst in her–her temper, her violence—but requires it. Worst of all, she realizes she’s growing content with that life, with being that person.

So she left the Pack and returned to Toronto where she’s trying to live as a human. When the Pack leader calls asking for her help fighting a sudden uprising, she only agrees because she owes him. Once this is over, she’ll be squared with the Pack and free to live life as a human. Which is what she wants. Really.

Definitely written in the 2000s

I read one of this authors recent books and I absolutely loved it. It made me laugh and I loved all the characters. This book however I didn’t enjoy reading. It seemed like the MC was super smart but she often made stupid decisions (at least towards the end of the book). (Spoiler) She also decided to get back with her ex who betrayed her (turned her without her consent) and most sex scenes seemed a bit not consensual (I guess the 2000s really were so different from the current…). I can understand how this was ok back in the 2000s but it really made me feel uncomfortable and frustrated (I cannot understand how she still loves him). It was entertaining enough to finish, but I’m definitely not reading the next book. The only person I really care about is the pack alpha.
