Great story, Lousy Storyteller

This book is basically a highlight of AA History, and Haitian History. The info was informative . The storyteller sucked. There were some of the worst edits I’ve ever encountered. The storyteller yawned and sneezed during the recording. I request my money back or my monthly credit returned. It was a stain on a great book.

Horrible Narration

The information was rich, but the narration was subpar. When the Haitian revolution section started I could literally hear the man yawning and clearing his throat multiple times. So unprofessional.

Learning new things.

This work by Captivating History’s a neat one. I didn’t get bored while listening to it as the events kept me engrossed until the last page. Not overly wordy. It’s just right.

African American History

Great history book without the political and cultural bias you typically see in books written on such a hot-button issue like slavery. Awe-inspiring, fascinating, beautiful!

Wow

I only completed the book because I was interested in the content. I was thoroughly annoyed with the sigh, coughing and blatant yawning during this narration. Could these things not be edited out? No one wants to hear this during the narration of a purchased book! I do know who NOT to look for in a narrator.

It is OK to Pause

Are you telling me that they couldn't do multiple takes? There are times where the narrator yawns, coughs, clears his throat, etc. Could they not edit that out? Other than that this is an excellent book.

kept me intrigued for the most part

It’s long but a compelling guide that screams of the great achievements of Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parkss, and many others. The topics covered from how the African-Americans were deemed as until the abolishment of slavery have kept me focused all the way.
