An enjoyable sequel

Roland Carlsson continues to deliver. I have really both books in this series from the characters to the world, the game mechanics of the world make things interesting. Erin Bateman does a great job as always. This was worth a credit and I look forward to other works by Carlsson.

The short answer, I recommend the book.

I'm a fan of the narrator’s performances and I have enjoyed the authors writing. When it comes to a sequel, I am personally looking for everything that made the first book worth it and then some. In my opinion that is this book. I don't want to spoil anything and honestly, I'm pretty proud of my review for the first book so I'm just going to put that below this little update and say yes, it's worth your time and treasure. I'm also going to recommend this writers Paladin series should you get to the end of this book and decide you're looking for something more from this author.

Book 1 Review

Alright so we've got French mice, evil rat kins, and a flying pig. Are you hooked yet? OK, if not yet, then our MC is a professor out in the field with his smoking graduate student who has a crush on him when they are transported to a game world. When I say, game world I mean a game world, where our characters are in idealized version of themselves surrounded by NPC's. Who runs the game you may ask? Well of course the answer is the gods! And what is at stake you may ask? And of course, the answer is humanities very existence! If that sounds like your jam, then this is your book. It's over the top, it's fun, and I recommend this audiobook to anybody reading this review. It's another fantastic performance by the narrator and a fantastic story by the author. Thank you to everybody who had a hand in bringing this book to us, the listeners. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for book two.

More unique fun

The Positive:
What I liked about part one is that it incorporated Mesoamerican mythology as the basis. In the sequel Roland added elements of Middle eastern and Pre-Spanish Philippine Mythology.
The Negative.
It's almost as fun as the first book, however one of my beliefs is that there is a time and place for everything. There are some pacing issues in this book, and the middle of a dangerous area is no place to reflect upon your relations or to Physically flirt, while you could be attacked at anytime.

Better and better

I liked this one better than the 1st book. It picked up more. Great adventures. Love the narration.

2nd book is better than the 1st one.

Our MC adds to his women as they all continue to travel through these different dungeon levels. Or are they worlds? Each one is different and also a different challenge.
Our peaceful professor may have some anger issues coming out and is taking it out on the bad guys.
It would be great if the warthog played a bigger role in the story. He's an awesome sub-character.
This book is for those that just want a light and fun harem read.

Just as good as book 1

I was once again pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this audiobook. The pacing and progression of the storyline are excellent. I still wish this was a dual narration (person preference), but Erin is doing her thing and doing it well.

Another great story in the Black Rain series!

Roland Carlsson wrote another great story in the Black Rain series. The MC continues to develop as do the supporting characters. This reads like everything you would come to expect from Roland! Overall, a well written and engaging story. I look forward to the next book in the series! Audio Version: Erin Bateman never disappoints and did a fantastic job each character and the narration.
