Publisher's Summary
A small Georgia town erupts in panic when a young college professor is found brutally mutilated in the local diner. But it's only when town pediatrician and coroner Sara Linton does the autopsy that the full extent of the killer's twisted work becomes clear.
Sara's ex-husband, Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver, leads the investigation - a trail of terror that grows increasingly macabre when another local woman is found crucified a few days later. But he's got more than a sadistic serial killer on his hands, for the county's sole female detective, Lena Adams - the first victim's sister - wants to serve her own justice.
But it is Sara who holds the key to finding the killer. A secret from her past could unmask the brilliantly malevolent psychopath...or mean her death.

Sadly, a bit of a letdown
What did you like best about Blindsighted? What did you like least?
I thought the plot was a little cookie cutter, shallow and lacked anything that really made it stand out as unique.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
felt very Nora Roberts, I love her stuff but it is predictable, and follows a very specific formula.
Any additional comments?
I chose this one after reading Pretty Girls by the same author, which was an amazing book. I think this being one of the author's early works is just not quite up to par with where her later works are. I may continue with this series based on how good Pretty Girls was, but this book fell flat for me. The narrator was awesome, she is really enjoyable.

Gory But Good
I am a new reader to Ms. Slaughter. My sister mentioned I may like this series and she was right, I am really liking it. Although I think it is a series that begs to be read in order, there is so much going on with the characters, their families and their lives together, I think you would miss something by reading them out of order. I'm glad they are all still available.
With that said, I also want to point out that so far, the books I have read, are very graphic, so if you only like cozies, stay away.
I gave it a four for only one reason, I had the bad guy figured out right away, I mean I just knew from the first time the character was introduced. I still enjoyed the story very much, so I didn't let that stop me from listening, but I thought well this is a little too easy to figure out. It won't stop me from the next book.
So for anyone out their looking for a series to pick up they may have not read yet, I highly recommend this author. Oh and I understand she has another series with different characters, but I have not gotten to them yet. Just a matter of time!!

Great story- raw and amazing characters
What three words best describe Kathleen Early’s performance?
Crisp, good tempo
Any additional comments?
I started with Copland... Hated it and loved it simultaneously! The sexism and racism was weaved through the story in Ms. Slaughter's way, gave a glimpse of the past in a grisly reality. Read it twice before starting the rest of her books. This one did not disappoint!
One thing to note, chapter 15 is a repeat of the previous chapter. A sound edit mistake. Not a huge deal... Just needs a tweak. Otherwise it was perfect for me.

Start here first...
I absolutely love Karin Slaughter novels. I started off with The Good Daughter and was hooked. I followed TGD with Pretty Girls, then Triptych, book 1 of Will Trent series, and then the entire Will Trent series , unabridged, in order (I only skipped Snatched, Book 6.5 and Busted. Book 6.5 because they are only 2-3 hours and I like to get the most value out of my credits. Once I completed the Will Trent series, (Wishing there will be more to come), I was hesitant to start the Grant County series. I thought it would be a prequel of WTS, and snd because I love WT, i felt GC would not stand up...
Keeping that in mind, I decided on Copland and loved it. Finally decided to check out Grant County... I liked it, but, my recommendation is if you’re just discovering Karin Slaughter and decide to jump into a series, Go with Grant County first!
Blindsighted Is good and if this type of mystery thriller with edgy darkness is something you like, then stick with it, because each book gets better.. She’s a wonderful storyteller - with the Will Trent series, there is no formula to her writing. Each book in the WTS is an excellent well written, engaging story.

Another Gripping Grant County Mystery
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely if they were into well written mysteries. Although there are some rather gruesome elements to the story that aren't for the sensitive. The writing is clean, crisp and the characters move the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I wanted to.
Any additional comments?
Excellent narration by Kathleen Early. I've given up trying to figure out the correct order to these books. I'm just really happy when I come across one I haven't read or listened to before.

I don’t know why everyone loves this book
So I rarely write reviews but this was an audible recommended best murder thriller book so I gave it a chance. I hate books that are so beyond the realms of realistic it’s like science fiction trying to be passed off as everyday normal. My first issue is you cannot be a pediatrician and a forensic pathologist at the same time unless you did 2 residencies. Plus the reference to Dara’s ER work was weird cause as a pediatrician you work all over. Fine I’ll let that go but there’s an WR scene that’s absolutely not plausible that killed me. Ok fine I’ll let that go too. Lena however was an awful character and when I dislike a character that much it ruins the book. Maybe I’m jaded because I’m in the medical field but this was a hard book to finish. The narrator was great though. The book overall was predictable.

Wonderful thriller!
Blindsighted, released in 2001, was Karin Slaughter's first novel. The novel introduces podiatrist and sometimes coroner Sara Linton who appears as protagonist not only in the Grant County series but in most of the books in the Will Trent series. It also introduces Sheriff Jeffrey Tolliver who is both Sara's ex-husband and future husband. I am completing getting audiobook versions of all of Karin Slaughter's novels. She is one of my favorite authors.
Blindsighted was a blockbuster award winner that introduced Karin Slaughter to the world in 2001. It is just as good today.
Kathleen Early has narrated approximately half of Karin Slaughter's unabridged audiobooks. Her narrations are consistently excellent.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Actually, that's true of all of her novels.
