Publisher's Summary

In the spellbinding sequel to “breath of fresh air for the genre” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review) Blood Like Magic, Voya fights to save her witch community from a terrible future, perfect for fans of Legendborn and Cemetery Boys.

Voya Thomas may have passed her Calling to become a full-fledged witch, but the cost was higher than she’d ever imagined.

Her grandmother is gone.

Her cousin hates her.

And her family doesn’t believe that she has what it takes to lead them.

What’s more, Voya can’t let go of her feelings for Luc, sponsor son of the genius billionaire Justin Tremblay—the man that Luc believes Voya killed. Consequently, Luc wants nothing to do with her. Even her own ancestors seem to have lost faith in her. Every day Voya begs for their guidance, but her calls go unanswered.

As Voya struggles to convince everyone—herself included—that she can be a good Matriarch, she has a vision of a terrifying, deadly future. A vision that would spell the end of the Toronto witches. With a newfound sense of purpose, Voya must do whatever it takes to bring her shattered community together and stop what's coming for them before it’s too late.

Even if it means taking down the boy she loves—who might be the mastermind behind the coming devastation.

Fantastic Duology

I was swept up in this series, patiently waiting for book two. The seamless merging of black witch magic, multicultural backgrounds and SF/technology made it both unique and spellbinding.

The writing is beautiful, contemporary and instantly engaging. The use of slang smart and effective for creating a believable world. I loved the sense of family and the universal need for belonging. The plot twist not expected.

And? The narration makes it even more real. More beautiful!

An Excellent story, and so well done!

Made me cry

Voya was an amazing character and her development was phenomenal. The ending was both satisfying and sad since the story was coming to an end.

Excellent sequel

I loved the first book in this series, Blood Like Magic, so I was excited to start listening to the second. It did not disappoint! I think I loved Blood Like Fate even more than Blood Like Magic. I could not stop listening!

Exciting Continuation of Blood Like Magic

Wow! These two stories have held my attention. Many thanks to Liselle Sambury for creating such a mystical, mentally stimulating novel! I absolutely love hearing Joniece Abbott-Pratt’s voice. She is so talented in her delivery. I honestly feel like I bonded with these characters and I didn’t want the story to end. It made me think about beautiful food and the ups and downs of family. Voya reminds me of myself, finding my way, not feeling confident but knowing I have a great calling on my life. I don’t want to leave any spoilers so I won’t give deep details. I’ll just say I enjoyed the shocking surprises, twists and turns that were TOTALLY unexpected! Bravo….I want more 😅😅😅Peace.

Not what I was hoping for.

I was hoping for a more mature Voya. I was kind of disappointed. She was pissing me off a lot… almost made me not want to finish the story.
