Olav lives the lonely life of a fixer. When you ‘fix’ people for a living, terminally, it’s hard to get close to anyone. Now he’s finally met the woman of his dreams.

Jo Nesbo -- what happened to you?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

oh my gosh, you must be kidding me!! Is this cliche-ridden, flawed, superficial, predictable, dull novel by the same author who produced the eery, deeper, surprising novels of the Harry Hole series?
This book would have been better if the characters had some depth, the story were enticing, and the cliches were dropped.
The performance must have been a joke. Never have I heard a less appropriate reading of a book.

What could Jo Nesbo have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Did Nesbo write this in 2 days while suffering from a hangover? I hope that in future writings Jo Nesbo will stop and think about what he's doing.

What didn’t you like about Patti Smith’s performance?

Shouldn't the narrator be a man? I mean, to go with the main character whose story is being narrated.
Patti Smith has a flat voice, stumbled on words, had some crazy twang where she says "winda" instead of window.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood on Snow?

Everything.
Should never have been written.

Please bring back Sean Barrett

What disappointed you about Blood on Snow?

I normally can't get enough of Jo Nesco's books, but the characters never really worked for me. The book felt very short. Also, the narrator was a very poor choice. The broad New York accent, but a story set in Oslo just felt so weird.

What could Jo Nesbo have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The characters just never really connected to me. The story just didn't seem to go anywhere.

Would you be willing to try another one of Patti Smith’s performances?

i doubt it. Her style of narration is slow, monotone and lacking any character. The broad New York accent just starts to grate after a while.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood on Snow?

it needs scenes added!

Any additional comments?

Please get Sean Barrett back for these Jo Nesbo books.

Ideal for the insomnia

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The usual narrator

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Patti Smith?

Sean Barrett

Any additional comments?

The voice of the narrator droned on in a monotone that could put me to sleep in about 10 minutes

dreary narration

What disappointed you about Blood on Snow?

Jo Nesbo is a good writer but the choice of narrator for this book is abysmal

Would you be willing to try another one of Patti Smith’s performances?

No

Half decent story spoilt by bad narration

The reader for this book is quite a bad choice. Firstly, it could be a man's voice or a woman's. It's obviously meant to be a man's, so why not pick someone with a rich deep voice that sounds like a killer? Secondly, the reader affects an L.A. Noir drawl that's totally out of keeping with the Oslo setting. It's an ok story but I won't be trying another like it.

A short, lean, mean pulp machine

A few hour of fun in a Tarantino style story, of criminals, their crimes, loves, and total indifference to life. the cleanest thing in the story is the snow and it gets covered in blood frequently. the main character is a likable “fixer” or hit man; Olav is aware of his limitations and lets us know how things work in his world, but his glasses are very tinted and not all is as he remembers.
I enjoyed the reader of the the story, if a bit unusual.

Quite possibly the worst narration ever

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narration

Has Blood on Snow put you off other books in this genre?

no

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I wouldn't know, I fell asleep half way through

If this book were a film would you go see it?

As long as the narrator change

Any additional comments?

I'm sorry, but this really was a dreadful choice of narrator. Sean Barratt made Harry Hole into a believable thoroughly enthralling character. Patti Smith narrative was poorly paced and monotone. I had little interest in finishing what might have been quite a good listen.

Missing Sean Barrett

What did you like best about Blood on Snow? What did you like least?

The story was more like a screen play for a Cohn brothers movie. I missed the dulcet tones of Sean Barrett. The setting, like the characters lacked depth and could have been anywhere rather than Oslo. The punk New York accent and the Norwegian setting had me lost somewhere in the mid Atlantic

I set the speed to 1.5 and this sounded better than the "normal" setting.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Patti Smith?

Sean Barrett

Did Blood on Snow inspire you to do anything?

Read the book instead.

Poor choice of narrator!

Feeling disappointed - love Jo Nesbo, but, too short & narrator was not at all suitable, quite annoying in fact. Bring back Sean Barrett! Am now reading the book & enjoying it much more than the audio version.

So so Bad!!!

What disappointed you about Blood on Snow?

The narrator

What could Jo Nesbo have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Don't know. It was totally the narrator

Would you be willing to try another one of Patti Smith’s performances?

Never. Will avoid like the plague. Sorry. I'm sure she's a lovely person and all that but this was not the book for her. Not sure narration is best suited to her voice. too monotone.

Any additional comments?

I love Jo Nesbo books. And have loved the audio books too. I honestly had to stop listening 15 minutes in, the narration was so boring. In fact, it was so bad I'm going to ask to be credited for it. First time ever.

Dreadful

Story was ok. But why it was read, frustratingly slow, by a woman with a strong New York gangster voice beats me. Could put you off audio books for life.

narration was terrible an insult to most of the other books narrated by Sean Barret.....once again narration or reading was kindergarten level
