Publisher's Summary

In a world where vampires have conquered mankind, Turner West is the only thing they fear.

Threaded with silver through his body, he is a Bonemaker - a rare human who can Unmake vampires with a single cut of his blade. Crossing the prairie of what was once the United States, Turner will face a blood-crazed cult, a governor who wants power more than life itself, and a trio of beautiful women who will help him toward his ultimate goal: ridding the world of bloodsuckers.

There's just one problem. Turner's exploits have attracted a vampire so old, his very existence threatens what remains of the human race. Extinction is upon us.

Fun story, Good action.

Turner West is a bonemaker. With silver threaded throughout his body, he's a vampire killing machine, until he falls for one. Granted, Karina is a different kind of vampire, except for the still needs to kill to eat thing. So, not so different?

There's plenty of action in this and that and strong pacing carried me through the story. The world build is weak. There's this great premise with Turner West (cool name) being threaded up like Wolverine, gave him a cool moniker like bonemaker, and then explained precisely nothing about why or how that helps him kill vampires. Perhaps it keeps him from getting killed? Except it doesn't. They still chomp all over him at will.

And why does Karina need to kill to eat? She doesn't, because Turner feeds her, so why does she kill?

It's the kind of story that doesn't go too deep, but if you're looking for some light fantasy action, Bloodlands is right up your alley.

Just bad

The author is plain lazy on this one. No real world building, no timeline. If there was a any world building, like some post apocalyptic earth most if not all the vamps and animals would be long dead because of the volume of blood needed to survive. The MC is just another human, not likeable, nothing really special other than being saved by other people every time he has to go up against 2 or more vamps.

Too many plot holes

I tried to get into it but in the end couldn’t finish it. The concept is interesting and the pace is quick and easy, but too many times one of the MCs walks away from a simple solution to her problems in what seems to be an attempt just to try and build unnecessary tension between the male and female MCs.

Author should learn about guns if they are going to be a part of the story.

The author doesn’t have to say “semi automatic pistol” every time he mentions it. 99.99% of all pistols are semi automatic.

It’s like saying 4wheeled car.

He could say “revolver”, or “striker fire” or call it by the caliber, or manufacturer like “glock”, but “semi automatic pistol” is so ridiculous every time that I almost quit listening.

Had potential

World has potential but instead of explaining odd parts of it like the silver thread or an actual character build up you’re left with fight scenes, useless dialog and sex scene added for no reason. Spoiler - you dont sleep with a “monster” when your whole life is based around hunting them because you hung out around a camp fire for a week together. Had potential.

MC sucks

not that good of a book one of the worst this author has written. The mc is a pansy vampire hunter that cant do his job and to be rescued by everyone else around him. he has no common sense or any brain's and everyone in his party are the same. this book was a shit show from the start.

I love the idea but not the characters

Turner was underwhelming and hypocritical, Karina is a psychotic murderer with a victim complex and the other side characters were just flat, I really didn't like any of the characters alone but when you start putting them together they make each other worse. I really liked the world and the story but the characters just made the book a slog.

Mc is a complete mental midget

Mc is completely useless. He does not have the mental fortitude to be a leader. He puts his crews life endanger just because he wants to sleep in a bed. He lets human monsters live just because they are human and constantly shames his vamp gf because she needs to drink blood. I rooted for him to die for the 70% of the book I was able to make it through. If I could give this book a 0, I would.

Not that great

If I had bought the book I would have requested a refund. The story was very slow and repetitive. The characters were not as developed as I would have thought considering the theme of the story. I will try to listen to the next book, but it took me 3 tries to finish this one.

So many complaints!

Sooo.... If you get nothing else out of this review of mine, please know that there's plenty of NTR in it.
Other than that, the MC is an unlikeable brooding idiot that would have done much better if he was to never speak. But i can't really blame the poor fellow much since he's wit can only be as sharp as author's pen. Also dialogues, my god the dialogues, no narrator in the world can make them sound good, I don't think the narrator deserved 5 star, but i gave it to him anyway out of sympathy for the material he had to work with.
--spoiler-- but very very minor
The first scene of the first book ... i don't get it, he buys the girl out of the brothel and then what ?? Sends her back to the drunk, abusive rapist uncle that sold her to the brothel in the first place ?? WTF, that's like, malicious level of stupid.
In summation: The only good thing i have to say about the book is that it's not that long.

Pretty Good.

The story is a good listen and it is well performed. My only complaint is that it felt it should’ve been a little longer.

It's OK, used it pass time while driving.

The idea isn't bad but the execution could be better. The writing is pretty lazy and I don't think the characters mean much to the author at all. There a whole convosation half way through where names of the characters get mixed up, don't really know how that made it to an audio book with out the author or proof reader or narrator noticing....

Main character is abit of an idiot really, which I do think he's supposed to be. He's likable in bits and then very unlikeable for alot of it. Feels kinda like this was written for sexually frustrated teenages with no imagination. Kind of a nerdy teenage lads dream written down, physically enhanced vampire hunter wrecking vamps and getting all the girls with no effort at all. Maybe because it's a post apocalyptic vampire invested world the girls just can't keep the underwear up, Never know when it will be your last kinda thing. As the main character has about as much charisma as a steaming pile of cat sick, it's just a little hard to believe.

But in all seriousness it kept me entertained for 6 hours and I'm half way through the second book. Probably because I've run out of money and just listening to anything on the plus catalogue.

The narrator is good, he reads it well and manages to give the supporting characters some depth.

Give it a go, it's just 6 hours

Peculiar choices for a protagonist.

It's alright! Nice for a quick listen and high octane action!
But the protagonist is a little, dense. And his inability to make what would seem, quality of life decisions, makes this book a difficult listen.
