Story
Nic Haydock, “Nac” to his friends, because, as they said, saying he had a knack for fixing and improving mechanical devices was the understatement of all time. After spending 10 years on Titan where he went through rehab and attended college, he was now returning home to Conclave Station. Reuniting with his lifelong friends - Mal, a computer genius, and Jazz, a natural-born pilot, he started a mining and shipping business. Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Story
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Excellent Series
Listened to this pack in two sessions. The first two then most of three. I live the cadence for sponge reason and while the story is far fetched, I feel like it's possible even plausible given the circumstances. the narrator is mighty good at voice acting, when I first started listening I checked to be sure it had only one. I thought that Nicki was possibly voiced by a woman. Granted I was driving on the highway so it was not without a fair amount of background noise, but now that I am finished I am sad that there isn't more to listen to. I plan to buy the kindle editions shortly. I wish that people were not like these characters in real life, I think perhaps the world would be a better place.

snag fart
I tried , i can get into some silly humor and over look alot, but geez. He comes home to find a Alien working on a space ship in his garage and immediately acts like no big deal, nothin strange , they are old buddies. They get parts to fix the ship like mufflers, and antifreeze from auto parts stores, and it runs on isopropyl . But the wrost part is the old country slag the author tries to use , like their favorite saying "snag fart" . Couldn't make it past 30 min, sorry!.

Delightful!
I wasn't sure what to expect from the description, but it sounded intriguing so I thought I'd take a swing at this publisher's pack since I was getting 3 books for 1 credit. I'm glad I did. If you like hard-core SF with lots of action this probably won't suit you -- it's more like the SF version of a "cozy" mystery. I really enjoyed it. The characters are likeable, the story is believable once you accept the premise, and the narrator is perfect. Jerry Boyd describes himself as a house husband and other things, but doesn't mention writing. It's OK, Jerry -- you can call yourself a talented writer. Come on, Audible, there are 7 more books in the series! Get Chris Ciulla in the booth STAT!

Lake Wobegon with aliens
Funny at first but wears thin after hours of easily fixed problems. Alien lady needs roadside assistance. Breaks down on Earth and a guy with diesel experience can fix it. Bend a pipe and Bobs your uncle. Who knew spaceships were so easy to fix. Or that aliens were just nice people that you want to take home to your mama for a wife.
Not only can he fix said spaceship but he sets up a alien spaceship Repair Depot. Makes lots of money but his neighbors don't ask where it came from or what he's going to do with that monster repair shop in the woods. Orders tons of supplies but nobody notices delivery trucks driving in the woods! Makes friends with the cops so they don't care.
Everybody that is let into the secret is ok with it and keeps their mouths shut. Everybody in this quaint little Southern town is friendly. Nobody gets jealous of his sudden wealth or mysterious wife.
Everything is hunky dory, every problem solved by Southern charm swearing and barbecues. Which means it is boring. Easy listening for background background noise.
Worst: Audible won't let me return this turkey.

series gets better after book 1
if you can make it through book 1 and its excessive use of the made up swear word snag fart the rest of the series is much better book 1 says it like 300 times book 2 around 20 and after that its just every once in a while. usualy around once or twice a book.
the rest of the book is all space aliens and hijinks galore.

No skill in storytelling
Although this is my type of genre I had to give up on this because it's just poorly written. The story jumps along with no real reason for anything happening, no development whatsoever. It just clunks through actions and dialogue like a rough first draft. And the supposed banter between characters is awfully forced, clichéd and unfunny. Even though it was included free I still feel ripped off.

Love the Audio but was a bit disappointed toward the end, because it cut short of the end, of the actual book. It may have been because of my download I'm not sure. Looking forward to the rest of the series on audio thanks Jerry and Chris.
