Publisher's Summary

Bonnie and Clyde may be the most notorious - and celebrated - outlaw couple America has ever known. This is the true story of how they got that way.

Bonnie and Clyde - we've been on a first name basis with them for almost a hundred years. Immortalized in movies, songs, and pop culture references, they are remembered mostly for their storied romance and tragic deaths. But what was life really like for Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker in the early 1930s? How did two dirt-poor teens from West Texas morph from vicious outlaws to legendary couple? And why?

Award-winning author Karen Blumenthal devoted months to tracing the footsteps of Bonnie and Clyde, unearthing new information and debunking many persistent myths. The result is an impeccably researched, breathtaking nonfiction tale of love, car chases, kidnappings, and murder set against the backdrop of the Great Depression.

No new info

A quick, flat recitation of the short criminal lives of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. Good narrator is wasted on this dry material. The author just listed the multiple crimes and pursuits, with little attempt to add personality to the characters.

A slow and stupid book about a fascinating subject

The prose is third-grade level and it's made even more annoying by the slow and sweetly condescending narrator. I couldn't take more than a few chapters.

Honest

The writing is simple yet compelling. One gets to see the dark side of man(and, woman). These two were little more than white trash psychopaths. It's shocking how easily they killed, yet viewed themselves as victims. The narrator was good. 5 stars

Optional but somehow required heading

Historically informative and not overly sensational. Interesting. Narrator was a little monotonous. Three more words.

Great!

I haven’t read much on B & C, but this was a good start. Author gave insight into the lives of the people who died during this time.

Great and Informative Book about Bonnie & Clyde

This was a very good book. The narration is very good aa well. It must have been quite an undertaking, with so many accounts, and other records to go through. I appreciate all of the work done in the writing and narrating this book. Thank you.

Great Book

I enjoyed the perspectives from different sources which I never heard elsewhere. I also enjoyed the tone and flow of the narrators voice. However, it would have been perfect if music from that period and/or other audio clips (how automobiles sounded at that time, etc) were included. That is the only reason why I do not give the performance 5 stars. Very nice book!
