Learned more about accounting then I had in class.

This is a collection of teachings. I thought the book ended, 'was it 3 times?', several times before its final ending. There was one surprise and was the best part of the listen.

I hate accounting

I hate accounting, and I’m having a really hard time understanding the concepts being taught; however, this is the best book on the topic I’ve heard so far.

This book is only okay.

This book is written as if you already know the basics.
Presented examples and key terms are not explained as it should be; it is just supposed you understand.

Not helpful as an audiobook

this audiobook is very hard to understand because of its format. Seems like the reader is just reading off numbers and equations at certain times, which for me and probably most people are better absorbed visually than through audio. The book also repeats itself about same terms.

tooo bad experience

It was not helpful as it was geared more toward electronics and software. I wanted a ledger and pen and ink.

Enjoyable book to listen and learn when at home.

Whether you’re a newcomer or a specialist, you still can learn many things from this book. This is the fourth book that I have picked up about Bookkeeping and Accounting, and feeling this much better than the last three.

Good Basic Book

This book goes over basic structures of businesses. One thing I learned that is so valuable is to keep business and personal financials separate. If you're just starting out, you'll want to read about the different roles accountants play in businesses.

Great information

I liked all the information and it flows well. It gradually gets more advanced. However, you can hear whenever this dude swallows and it gets on my nerves.

Definitely recommend

Bookkeeping and accounting have been two ideas that I regularly try to resist off.
This step-by-step guide was surprisingly straightforward to follow.
You can tell this author (Greg Shields) loves what he does.

Thorough but designed for US markets

I wanted to learn more about bookkeeping, despite having a bookkeeper in order to better understand the financial information in my business.

I'm based in the UK and some of the information was tailored to US markets and businesses. Absolutely fine, but a UK version would be great.

It's very thorough and covers a lot, while also repeating core points to help the reader.

Small note to the audiobook company too, 11:18 into chapter 49, the reader makes a mistake and swears. Not a massive deal but editing should have caught it and I had kids in the car.

it might be better in hard copy

As an accountant starting off I thought I would listen to this and see if it added anything new. It didn't but that's not to say it wasn't useful. Even though this book is written from an American perspective a lot of the GAAP principles are the same in the UK. For anybody who monitors this book in one of the chapters at 11 minutes 20 i there is swearing as the speaker thinks he made a mistake!

Any additional comments?

It goes over the basic accounting terms and what you need to do when starting a small business. It is easy to digest and understand. I would recommend this to someone like me who needs a general review and update on the dos and don’ts of the monetary aspects of a new business.

Good For Beginners

Any additional comments?

I am beginning a business and felt that this book would be a good start for understanding accounting. I found the simple descriptions, tables and formulas were enough to put together a spreadsheet but felt this book is for those just putting a toe in the water.
