Story
How did the world arrive at its current, disorienting state of identity politics, and how should the church respond? Historian Carl R. Trueman discusses how influences ranging from traditional institutions to technology and pornography moved modern culture toward an era of “expressive individualism.” Investigating philosophies from the Romantics, Nietzsche, Marx, Wilde, Freud, and the New Left, he outlines the history of Western thought to the distinctly sexual direction of present-day identity politics and explains the modern implications of these ideas.

Story
It's the hot topic of the moment. Christians, the church, and the Bible seem to be out of step with modern attitudes towards homosexuality. And there is growing hostility towards those who hold a different view. So is God homophobic? And what do we say, and how do we relate to to both Christians and non-Christians who experience same-sex attraction. In this short, simple book, Sam Allberry wants to help confused Christians understand what God has said about these questions in the scriptures, and offers a positive and liberating way forward through the debate.

If God is holy, then he can’t sin. If God can’t sin, then he can’t sin against you. If he can’t sin against you, shouldn’t that make him the most trustworthy being there is? Best-selling author Jackie Hill Perry, in her much anticipated follow-up to Gay Girl, Good God, helps us find the reason we don’t trust God - we misunderstand his holiness. In Holier Than Thou, Jackie walks us through Scripture, shaking the dust off of “holy” as we’ve come to know it and revealing it for what it really is: good news.

But Lee harbored a secret: He also knew that he was gay. In this groundbreaking book, Lee recalls the events - his coming out to his parents, his experiences with the "ex-gay" movement, and his in-depth study of the Bible - that led him, eventually, to self-acceptance. But more than just a memoir, Torn provides insightful, practical guidance for all committed Christians who wonder how to relate to gay friends or family members - or who struggle with their own sexuality.

As a young Christian man, Matthew Vines harbored the same basic hopes of most young people: to someday share his life with someone, to build a family of his own, to give and receive love. But when he realized he was gay, those hopes were called into question. The Bible, he’d been taught, condemned gay relationships. Feeling the tension between his understanding of the Bible and the reality of his same-sex orientation, Vines devoted years of intensive research into what the Bible says about homosexuality.

All that was deeply challenged when she met a progressive pastor who called himself a hopeful agnostic. Publisher's Summary
A rich portrayal of living faithfully and happily as a Christian with same-sex attraction that paints a compelling picture of discipleship for every believer.
In this powerful and personal book, author Rachel Gilson describes her own unexpected journey of coming out and coming to faith...and what came next. As she does so, she addresses many of the questions that Christians living with same-sex attraction are wrestling with: Am I consigned to a life of loneliness? How do I navigate my friendships? Will my desires ever change? Is there some greater purpose to all this?
Drawing on insights from the Bible and the experiences of others, Born Again This Way provides assurance and encouragement for Christians with same-sex attraction, and paints a compelling picture of discipleship for every believer.
Whatever your sexuality, this book is an inspiring testimony of how a life submitted to Jesus will be fulfilling and fruitful, but not always in the ways we might expect.

BEST of the MANY I’ve read about SSA
I am a parent of a 20 something year old adult child who is SSA and dabbles in the lifestyle. I’ve read, listened to, watched an uncountable number of pieces, so much though I probably know more about the subject than some who experience it. Although I don’t known about it in the way people who experience it do, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge over the years. This was by far the most well thought out, articulate, interesting, and honest book I’ve read on the topic (actually I listened to it. I whole heartily encourage everyone who experiences, or loves someone who experiences SSA to read it!

People need to read this book!
Rachel Gilson puts the confusing issue of same-sex attraction (SSA) into perspective for Christians who want to help people struggling with this temptation. Gilson is both compassionate and realistic as she gently corrects the Church's false expectations and helps believers to see that SSA is similar to other forms of temptation in that it often never stops being a struggle until we're in glory. She also makes the reader aware of how "costly" a commitment to Christ is for those leaving the LBGT lifestyle, and that for someone sacrificing nearly everything for Christ, an hour a week in church does not come close to meeting the need for fellowship and support. The Church is also gently chastised for often making marriage an idol of sorts, and enlightened (or reminded) about the unique roles of singles as equally valuable in the Body of Christ. I wish everyone who identifies as a Christ-follower could read this book.

A book for all the church
Having read/listened to this book twice, I have found it to be more helpful than just for those with same sex attraction.
The biblical content is encouraging, helpful, thorough, educational, merciful, gracious, honest, truthful and has wisdom.
It is more than a book just for certain people, but for the whole church. I have learnt from it for myself and for how I treat my fellow Christian family, and want to do my part in fulfilling and showing love to the church family, but above all trusting the Lord with all my heart, and loving him first.
Rachel does not shy away from the difficulty of sin, the hurt sin produces and the choices we have to make as Gods family.
The love of our creator is forefront, and this is overwhelmingly beautiful
Thank you Rachel for writing this book.

Helpful, challenging, & compassionately delivered
This is an exceptional book. Rachel comes across so caring and compassionate. It is a personal story, so has the weight of her own experience,... but is laced with Bible throughout. I have listened to this as a pastor and a dad, and it has provoked thoughtful reflexion for me. It really highlights both the cost of discipleship, and the reward of discipleship - issues the world needs to see.
