Publisher's Summary

Born into one of the leading mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only 15 when her parents betrothed her to Luca "The Vice" Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families. Now 18, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.

Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname "the Vice" for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought-after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth, and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile. In her world, a handsome exterior often hides the monster within—a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you.

The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind, but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again. Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart, and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s.

Horrible narrator

I can’t believe this woman accepted a mafia story that takes place in New York and Chicago yet she can’t even attempt to mimic the accent needed. Next time watch the God Father or an episode of The Sopranos. She killed the book for me.

Too slow!!!

This story did not ring true as a Nadia book to me. The main character was born into the family and should not have been so innocent and ridiculously whiny. She should have had more of an edge living in this life. There also was not much of a story line. It was all about boring sex scenes with her and her constant complaining. The narrators voice also didn’t sell the story for me when she talked in Luca’s voice. I was underwhelmed and will not coming continue on with the series. It had so much potential and fell short.

Dissapointed by narrator

I loved the first book in this series “luca”. I was so excited for the next installment but the narrator thoroughly destroyed it. Her voice was like a little girl. I can get over the weakness of the heroine and the dudes transgressions bc its fiction but this is an audio book.... the narration has to be on point!!

DAMN, IT COULD’VE BEEN THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD

With a few major and some minor tweaks here and there this could’ve been a good story.. but sorry Juliana, your whispery quiet narration would be best suited to children’s books and NOT, in my opinion, Mafia romances. The narration made the eighteen year old shy virgin a weak heroine and she fell in love, forgave and complied WAY too easily IMO.

Worth a credit? Sadly it’s a no.. this narrator, for me, wasn’t a good fit which is a shame because it, and the whole series, has potential. I hear there’s a Prequel so I may continue if there’s a different narrator.

Unexpectedly good

It was slow at first but now that I’ve listened to the full book I understand that backstory was needed! The plot was great the smut was even better! Definitely worth the credit to listen.

Enjoyed the Story

I enjoyed the story and I like the characters but the narrator wasn’t my favorite I think that she didn’t do the story any justice.
Maybe the next book will have a different narrator and it will be more enjoyable to listen to.

What can I say Cora Reilly is an amazing author. I’ve read this book awhile back and it was by first read from this author and I loved it. If your love dark mafia romance, with suspense and drama then I definitely this book. Listening wit was epic, amazing

Not Bad

The story was pretty good, but the narrator was kinda meh. I think it would have been better if she got more into narrating the book!

disappointing

I feel cheated by this story. if you have read Luca Vitioli, (which is excellent by the way) then dont get this. it is the same story, but from Aria"s perspective. The narrator was very monotone and quite insipid. I feel I have wasted a credit getting this book.

Enjoyed it

It's just a shame none of the other instalments are on audible. I would have definitely bought the series as I was curious to see what happened to the other characters.

Not sure how I feel *spoilers in review*

I’m really on the fence with this one. At first in the past scenes when Luca was first betrothed to Aria, I liked the way his character was set up. He seemed liked he cared for her. I loved that he didn’t see Aria as anything but a child and I loved that he stopped her father from hitting her. But then when we flick forward to the present and we see the interactions between Luca & Aria, I was so disappointed. All he seemed to care about was getting to take her virtue. I hated that he literally fucked his way through the city but Aria wasn’t allowed to even be around males. I hated the way he spoke to her about taking what was his on their wedding night. I couldn’t move past the fact he started sleeping with Grace literally 2 days after their wedding because Aria didn’t sleep with him straight away even though he could see she was petrified of him. But more then that I couldn’t understand how quickly Aria moved passed it. Don’t get me wrong I totally get that in comparison to the other mafia men and what he could of done he was a saint to Aria. Honestly I was also super disappointed that Luca didn’t gut Grace after what she did.

In conclusion I did enjoy the book but it just wasn’t what I was expecting really. I definitely need to read Luca’s POV to understand it more so I’m going to do that now!
