Publisher's Summary

This abridged audio version of the book helps you understand the friction points or serious hurts in your marriage - and move beyond them to the mutual care, respect, affirmation, and intimacy you both long for.

Read by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend.

Only when you and your mate know and respect each other's needs, choices, and freedom can you give yourselves freely and lovingly to one another.

Boundaries are the "property lines" that define and protect husbands and wives as individuals. Once they are in place, a good marriage can become better, and a less-than-satisfying one can even be saved.

Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend, counselors and authors of the award-winning best seller Boundaries, show couples how to apply the 10 laws of boundaries that can make a real difference in relationships. They help husbands and wives understand the friction points or serious hurts and betrayals in their marriage - and move beyond them to the mutual care, respect, affirmation, and intimacy they both long for.

Boundaries in Marriage will help you:

  • Set and maintain personal boundaries and respect those of their spouse
  • Establish values that form a godly structure and architecture for their marriage
  • Protect their marriage from different kinds of "intruders"
  • Work with a spouse who understands and values boundaries - or work with one who doesn't

You don't have to let your marriage head toward separation or divorce. Discover how boundaries make life better today!

Plus, check out Boundaries family collection of books dedicated to key areas of life - dating, raising kids, parenting teens, and leadership. Workbooks and Spanish editions are also available.

This will be used by our family or years to come.

Loved it. Narrators are great. Stories were impactful! Should not only be viewed individually, but by our family, couples, small groups, etc.

Seek wisdom for my marriage

This has been a great book, it’s has helped me to see that boundaries are good to have. As I am right now separated from my wife due to things we never set up boundaries before we were married 18 years ago while dating. Coming into a family already made with my wife I should have had boundaries regarding our conversations about me and her and our conversations and communications. this has been a very tough book to go through it has opened up my eyes and I really hope that due to the things that I did in this marriage that maybe my wife and I can restore our marriage with new communications of boundaries.

This explains how to honor Christ without becoming a doormat

This book was exactly what I needed to hear to know how a wife should respond to a husband who doesn’t respect boundaries and how to have a healthy relationship that honors Christ without becoming a doormat.

What consequences can you give to someone that is already emotionally detached and not emphatic at all?

Would have love some exact answers as to how to give consequences when the husband refuses and emotionally checks out and avoids anything related to helping put out with kids, discipline, shopping etc. I don’t know how to find a boundary for a man looking for me to be his mother and not his wife. He could care less that I am overwhelmed around the house and with the kids. He is emotionally gone. Zero care.

Not meaty

I was disappointed in this book. I thought it would give great guidance on how to really create and maintain boundaries…words or phrases to use in being able to hold my boundaries in conversation or within myself. I did not walk away from this feeling like there was a lot of meat to this book. I didn’t feel like it put tools in my toolbox. I was surprised it ended when it did because I kept thinking there has to be more.

Highly recommend!

I did not see a healthy marriage in my parents when I was growing up. Considering America's current divorce rate, I am guessing that most og us did not either. This book is a great resource to learn what to have a healthy marriage.

So many parallels...

This book caused anger in me to rise up hahaha whilst at the same time shone clarity, truth and wisdom on so many things :-)

I went through a divorce in 2017 after my wife left in 2015. I saw so many things that happened to us come up in this book. Especially the part on intruders. I felt grief but hope spring up at the same time. I listened through the book a couple times.

Do you think both Dr's will do an updated version to this book? Was truly an awesome listen and powerful snap shot of what can happen in relationships and marriage.

Thank you both and bless y'all...

Perth, Western Australia!!!
