Publisher's Summary

Boy of the Pyramids is the heartwarming story of the unlikely friendship that forms between an Egyptian nobleman's son, Kaffe, and Sari, a slave girl from the Sinai region. Together, they come to understand each other's cultures, learn the traditions and farming methods of the people who live along the Nile, uncover foul play during a bullfight, find themselves in danger while seeking adventure, understand Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife, and ultimately solve the mystery that is woven throughout the tale. This is an engaging story of family love, compassion, sacrifice, bravery, loyalty, and adventure!

Great book

My kids and I loved the story! Great writing, and loveable characters. The reader, we didn’t feel, is suited for this type of book. Her take with many of the characters was more angry and dramatic than we felt they needed to be, given the dialogue. I wonder if it was her first time reading the book. We’ll read it again soon as a read aloud rather than this particular audiobook.

Educational and entertaining.

My 8 year old granddaughter and I really enjoyed listening to this book. We were both disappointed when it ended. The person reading the book did a great job. Not only did we learn many things about ancient Egypt, the book held or interest and caused us to feel we were there in the midst of the story.

Good historical fiction

The narration could be smoother, as Ms. Muse emphasizes too many words, and sometimes the wrong ones. Children are not likely to be bothered by that and the story is entertaining and informative.

Great living history book

We listened to this (6yr old and 9yr old) while studying ancient Egypt. The story is informative and interesting - both of my boys enjoyed it. I, personally, didn't give it 5 stars just because I didn't feel like this book didn't feel like high-quality literature to me. However, if you are looking for a living history book for elementary aged kiddos this is a great selection, for sure!

Exciting look in ancient Egypt

We listened to this as part of our homeschool study of ancient Egypt and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our children were sad when it was over. I thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the characters to life in the story. We look forward to reading and listening to more stories by this author. A real quality piece of historical fiction for anyone interested in ancient Egypt.

We all enjoyed this story, from 4 and up, boys and girls. It is a great way to gain a personal understanding of Ancient Egypt and have the thrill of mystery too. Highly recommend.

Sweet, uplifting and positive.

I recommend this. My third grader and first grader enjoyed the excitement of it. They listened to the whole thing in one sitting. It’s a happy book for them to listen to.
