Penelope, I know that it’s three o’clock in the morning, but I need to get this off my chest.

I can’t give you any more advice on landing this other guy, can’t tell you another “sexy” thing that you should do, or suggest a new set of filthy words that you should text him late at night.

As your best friend, I’ve reached my limit, and I can honestly say that he doesn’t deserve you.

I’m not saying all of this because I’m f--king jealous, or because he had the audacity to say that he makes more money than me. (I still can’t find his name on the Forbes 500 list, and I know damn well that he’s renting that Ferrari, but that’s a story for a different day).

He’s not who you think he is, and the better man has always been right in front of you....

You have every reason to never give me a chance since you know me better than anyone, and you agree with all the tabloids calling me The Cocky King of New York, and the Untamed Playboy of Manhattan. But I honestly believe that you’re better off with someone else, and I need you to see.

I’m not asking for too much....

I just want you to break up with him, for me.

Cute book but could be better

I love Joe Arden and Erin Mallon and the concept of the story was great, just poorly executed. The chapter names took away from the book and are more of a distraction than anything and some parts of the book unnecessarily repeat themselves. The book bounces around from the past to present so much and made it so I had to constantly go back a few chapters to figure out what was going on.

Whitney G. is gifted. Her back and forth dialogue with the characters is unmatched. Worth every bit of my time and the credit.

Love The Writer'S Style

Loved the ending! Yeah, eve before it ended and will be reading/listening again. I also liked the characters. Sort of fell sorry for Penelope constantly choosing cheaters. In addition, having a brother, Travis, as a tree Dck. Overal, the story is comical and good writing. I enjoyed Erin Mallon and Joe Arden's performances!

Not her best

Not the best Whitney G book. This story felt too unreal. Even the evolution from enemies to best friends to lovers didn’t feel real. Also I don’t know if this was an editing problem but on 2 different ocassions a chapter was duplicated. I don’t recommend this book but Whitney G has other awesome titles. Narration was excellent as usual with the 2 narrators.

It was pretty good

Okay so I loved the narration. Joe Arden is top notch. Him and Erin together are a great team. I wanted to absolutely love this but unfortunately I didn’t. The back and forth in the chapters between past and present definitely threw me off. I understand it was needed for the storytelling and the relationship history between Penelope and Hayden. This is just personal preference and didn’t take away from the writing because I liked the story. Just not that aspect. Overall it was alright and I will probably listen to more Whitney G.

I want this to be a movie

all the scenes with Haydens agent were brilliant. and break up #4 was my personal favourite with the dine and dash.

and dear goodness hayden is a hero for dealing with a teenager... their relationship was so much less creepy in adulthood

The perfect way start to 2022 and Joeuary!

Whitney honey, this book is a masterpiece and with Joe and Erin bringing Hayden and Penelope to life, oh my goodness, gracious me! Simply magnificent!
I adored this friends to lovers story which see’s Hayden (who was Penelope’s brothers best friend growing up) looking out for Penelope. He is not only her confidante but also her best friend, her life coach and sex coach. At some point, they both realise they have feelings for one another but neither wants to jeopardise their friendship so keeps that information to themselves.
Joe Arden pulls off a killer performance and portrays the cool, confident Hayden perfectly! Joe never fails to make us feel with his storytelling. There is no character this man can’t take on and hook us listeners in from the very first line to the last. Erin Mallon, the woman who can do it all and never fails to excel is the perfect Penelope. Erin showcases Penelope’s vulnerabilities and her wants, needs, and desires superbly. She takes Penelope on journey from naïve young woman to a wanton, sexual goddess!
My highlight of the book is the interaction between Penelope and Hayden when she wants his help replying to a dirty text message the guy she’s dating has sent her and baits poor Hayden into saying what he would have said if he was sexting her. Hayden’s line “I wouldn’t want to waste my time with words, I’d just show up to your place, bend you over the couch and show you!” was just the beginning of his response and Jesus, Mary mother of all that is holy, it only gets more outrageously filthy but I’m not giving the whole game away. Happy freaking New Year to me! What a way to kick off 2022 and more importantly Joeuary!
