Publisher's Summary

As millions of readers of Hatchet, The River, and Brian's Winter know, Brian Robeson survived alone in the wilderness by finding solutions to extraordinary challenges. But now that's he's back in civilization, he can't find a way to make sense of high school life. He feels disconnected, more isolated than he did alone in the North. The only answer is to return-to "go back in"-for only in the wilderness can Brian discover his true path in life, and where he belongs.

A great addition to the hatchet

This book has captured my attention till the very end. I really like Peter Coyote’s way of making the story come to life. I’m excited to read the next book in the series!

Animal Boy comes home

I am a tutor and have just found Gary Paulson’s “Brian”series.
Lucky yo have stumbled onto “Hatchet”. The stories are so engulfing and it is no surprise that GP actually loved them.
One of my students compared “Brian’s Return “ to London’s “Call of the Wild”. Indeed. Both the Wolf Dog and the Animal Boy returned home.

the audible appendix about the author is great

I found this series at age 70 thanks to a participant on the TV show Alone mentioning it. It sounds like the appendix about the author and his life experiences similar to Brian's is fascinating.

Nice story

This is a great follow up to Brian's Winter, and truly a good tell of survival and reflection. The only minor issue is the inconsistency between this and previous story, the river But it's very minor. This was a good adventure for woodsworth
